Default so why is nobody...

why is nobody that is running FI on their cars going with this 4.15L stroker kit thats available to our cars? i see its only $4500, which may seem like a lot, but is actually quite a bit less than every FI option for our cars. I'm sure the install would be like $3000 ($7500) total, but still, it seems like it would be a good way of ensuring a reliable 700+whp.

also has anyone seen or heard of anyone running this 4.2L stroker kit NA? could we be looking at 400whp NA if so??

just my groggy sunday morning thoughts.

any info appreciated

Not enough FI'd Zs = Not enough blown motors = not enough engine builds = no stroker kits.

400whp N/A could be possible running higher than stock compression on 93 octane.

You got to account for more then just the stroker kit. Going to need a return fuel system. Some might need a better clutch. Head work or stage 1 or 2 heads. Start adding all that up with install your looking at like 12 grand. There are some things I am missing like gaskets and if your doing all that should change the oil pump just because your there

A lot of people do not do stroker or build motors until the stock parts break.
No need to replace what is not broken.

Factory internals look to be keeping up pretty well. Personally I think a stroker kit is overkill, keep stock displacement drop in some low comp pistons save yourself the work and money needed for a new crankshaft and headwork.

I think if you want to up the power to 600rwhp you will have to do some headwork from talking to sam would atleast need new valves and springs Now IMO if I was to build the block I would build it to be a little more then what my power goals are that way I could up the power a little if I choose down the line

I totally agree but for many of us 500-550whp is more than enough. I could see myself building the engine to go beyond that just so I could get on it more often and have it be reliable. IMO, granted a bit off topic, I would vote TT over SC. Sure the TT has the lag issue but the torque #'s for the TT blow away the SC. I'd rather have more torque with lag than less torque with a flat curve. With all these n54 BMW's going JB4 and other tuning paths which dramatically increase torque the sub 400tq that the SC kits put out just don't cut it.

1) very few people are utilizing the power they have now. Why worry about more if you're already struggling to get it on the ground (or just street-driving, in which case, stock displacement is plenty)

2) people are far more willing to invest in proven products that show gains, rather than products that haven't been demonstrated to be worthwhile and reliable

You would need more than the stroker kit to get 700whp, not going to happen on motor alone. Also it would cost more than $7500 total,Its just not cost effective.

for the cost of going to a stroked/full NA build, it might be worth while to consider a motor swap from a Titan and build the hell out of that. Either way the costs will break the 12k mark pretty quick.

And yes, if you were to stroke, head work is required to see real benefits. (pun originally not intended, but funny nonetheless)

Money....money....did I say money yet? I'm looking into it but with the engine upgrade you will also need a tranny upgrade. Right now for the engine and tranny I'm looking at almost $20,000 more to my build. Time and money right now I've only got the time.
