the only thing when i got the car was it had a spacer on driver side of the rear wheel and nothing on the other wheel and a slightly warped rear rotor
because i dont drive the car hard or much besides to work i did not notice this til months after.

i know adding more power to the mix will pull any problems to the top and i guess for me its bad piston rings

Be happy you found the issue before the engine popped. You would be spending a lot more to fix a blown engine. Good luck with the build!

ok still waiting for the rebuild to be complete
my engine rebuild will be with
: eagle forged rods
: wiseco pistons 96mm-15.5cc dish
: arp head studs and thicker head gasket
-----
of course the stillen kit w/9-lb pulley
-----
water-meth injection kit
-----
retune
------------------
this set up will drop my cr by 1 point

Thinking about moving the meth injection nozzles while the motor is apart? Seems like they would have more benefit after the intercooler though I'm still learning.

Well you know the stillen kit has the inter cooler as part of the intake so no way to do the injection after the cooler.

Check out where GTM installed meth on their TT install, the same location would work on our Stillen setup. They have it plumbed into the into the lower portion of the intake manifold from the bottom. It's the piece that the Stillen manifold bolts to and feeds air directly to each cylinder

Nissan370 08-14-2012 02:53 PM

sounds good man lets see how this turns out :)

if i decide to stick this stillen thing out i will be upgrading to the t-trim and larger intake pipping were the maf is
was also talking to a different shop about doing something with the pipping to move the maf behind the blower we will see

ANMVQ 08-14-2012 03:08 PM

HEY!! You reading my thread.. LOL I went with the large MAF intake( S&R) and upgraded MAF's along with a handful of other things.. The I was also thinking about going to blow through too, But decided to stay this way.

Ok so I will be leaving Je imports and going with hills garage to finish my build I drop the car off Tuesday for a complete retune and can only pray that Je atleast did a good job on putting the motor together not going to bad mouth them but for the money I paid I should not have to keep calling about my car
So good luck Je but I am moving on
move the time to tuesday sep 4

Nissan370 09-04-2012 06:17 AM

i drop the car off at hills garage today they will do a full look over and compression test to make sure the motor is good before they do a fresh retune.

i will post the results once i get the retune dyno

ANMVQ 09-04-2012 08:16 AM

Nice I'm still waiting to get the car back from the dealer, LONG Story, Someone can not put a bolt in,, LOL

Nissan370 10-04-2012 05:49 PM

ok so the guys at hills garage did a complete test on the build motor and found it to be sound
now onto the tuning. the tuner is not at all happy with what he is seeing
not under load he is seeing that the maf's are both reading different voltages they are off by as much as .5v
and its driving the computer crazy on the fuel map side
he said there is a few things he can try but the placement of the mafs are not good
or it could be a leak at the bpv he is just getting started
also uprev is the software being used and its not letting him adj. each maf but doing more of an average of the 2

he told me that if he cant get the fuel mapping the way he wants then we need to look at other options he has been using uprev for over 4yrs

i told him cool if its not the way he wants then i will leave the car untuned pull the stillen kit and go with a turbo kit top of next year ( i dont drive my car much since i have a backup)

best thing is the tuner is looking at it as a challenge lol. so i guess thats kinda good maybe he can get it running right
any ways i think i told the guy like 20 times i just cant do another blown motor lol

If the compression test came out alright, then you should be fine. They're going to do whatever they need to make sure the tune is completely safe and making the most amount of power, reliably.

A "draw-through" (Stillen) MAF sensor is a lot more of a challenge to tune than a "blow-through" (GTM).

I've been going to Hill's Garage for over almost 4 years now. Ever since then, I won't let anyone else touch my car. You're in good hands my friend.
