Yup, doing research but I'm leaning more towards S/C over TT only because of cost and the S/C gives me the horsepower i'm looking for. Now its just of matter of preference GTM vs. Stillen. Any opinion is welcome...

Do you want to upgrade your tranny too? The S/C gets you close to the max HP/ TQ I'd be comfortable with on a standard tranny (auto or manual). TT gets you in the higher HP/TQ ranges but you will probably want to upgrade the tranny as well. The SC brings on power slower w less TQ so it's not nearly as hard on the car as a TT setup is. If your goal is to get well up in the HP range, skip the SC and go straight to TT.

No need to upgrade the tranny if its a manual 6 speed. All you would need is a clutch and CSC upgrade if you have a auto thats a different story. To the OP what is your budget and power goal's ? A SC 370 with 400whp will hang and beat a lightly modded evo. But if one of your friends decides to go get a bigger turbo your going to need more.

It all depends on witch Evo and turbo evo 8/9 can push more on stock blocks than the newer evo 10's.They can make 400-500whp depending on witch turbo they choose ,500whp would be pushing it on a stock block evo 8/9.I have a friend that has a evo 8 build motor 550whp low boost just for the street on a 35R turbo his high boost is 725whp.There isnt even a 370z that has even come close to making that much power.

The Evo has been around forever though, we will get there. Also, I kinda disagree that a lightly modded evo will keep up with a 400whp 370z. Lightly modded is probably like stage 2, maybe 350whp. I've been in many evos at varying stages of power. Driven them stock, stage 2, and with a 30R and 450whp. I think It would be a nice race with a 30R evo8/9 and a SC 370z. Of course they can ramp up the boost, but they still have pretty bad lag from the 2.0. Hell they lag bad even with the miniature stock turbos.

If the GTM S/C claims 550 hp, wouldnt that add up to more than 400 whp on the car? just curious but I thought the conversion was roughly 15% from fly to wheels....

HP = (Torque x RPM) / 5252 In general torque is king in a drag race. HP comes in to play at top speeds. In short if both a tt Z and a sc Z have 550hp, the tt Z will have more torque and be faster in a straight line. The benefit to me of the sc is that the power curve resembles that of a stock Z and retains driveablity on a road coarse.
