Beautiful build... how's traction from a roll in each gear? I love how the revs ramp up so quickly in each gear. That's what I'm shooting for, but the target is under 500 whp (from 400 whp currently).

Thank you, sir! You have a beautiful build as well.

Traction in 1st...HA! 2nd gear traction...what traction? 3rd gear hooks 90% of the time. It was maybe 65 at night a few nights ago and 3rd gear had a problem staying planted. My foot will have some fun as temps get colder.

With the drag radials on from a roll, it still eats up 1st and 2nd. At the track though, with a big smokey burnout, it felt awesome to have traction in 1st and 2nd. That was the first time I really got to feel the HP and it put a huge smile on my face

I couldn't see clearly and probably missed the post, but are you using the EVC 6? If I was to run high boost, I would love to take advantage of the target PSI per gear. Of course, it'll need to be optimized for the tires being used. Since I run street tires, I'd probably set mine to 6 PSI in 1st and go up from there.

At < 6.5 PSI, I can get it to fishtail in 2nd around 4k RPM from a roll on a good day. After things heat up a bit, I hardly break traction afterwards. I've not tried launching the car yet haha.

BTW... I finally watched the video with the speakers on

Interesting thread to say the least. Like what you did 98~. The problems with the builder and time lines really don't seem that out of the ordinary. I've had the same bull happen to me before, and that was on turbo KITS. They say one thing, promise a deadline, you call back way past deadline and they haven't even started, or know nothing about it. I def felt the whole "paying customer = great service on a phone" then "you already paid, and we don't care about the issues you're having despite our promises and guarantees." It happens. The car mod business lives on rep from people like you.

Reading over the whole thread, I was chuckling how some forum members were pointing out some problems with Lutz's design, and the same issue they bring up bites you in the ***. I didn't enjoy that the process sucked for you, but now that it's pretty much over, it can be laughed at; IMO. Hind sight is 20/20 after all. That's what happens when a welder designs a turbo kit, and not an engineer. This isn't the 70's anymore, these are 200mph computers, hence companies specializing in certain types of cars; due to the wide range of differences that can be seen between makers.

christian370z,

...that will be a huge amount of intense heat confined to an already hot engine bay. Some venting via the hood is probably the easiest way to help that problem out...

JB-370z,

What I am wondering is, how even the air flow is going to be with one turbo to both throttle bodies

Anywho, great looking car, and I hope it just gets even better.

I'm using a Blitz SBC-ID III. The Blitz offers the same target PSI if you also purchase their speed controller.

Thank you. I was blinded by Lutz's reputation and my first hand knowledge of turbo kits they have fabricated in the past. It still pisses me off everytime I look back at all the money I wasted due to their "expert" knowledge. Someone posted saying they could make their own kit for around $6k and Shawn laughed. I now know it could be built for that or even a little less....$1000 for a turbo and $1000 for intercooler, WG, and BOV (roughly speaking). That leaves $4k for materials and labor. Had I taken my car to the guy I'm workog with now, I could have had a reliable single turbo kit for around $4k-$5k.

Trust me...I've thought about it, but the guy I work with is still a kid. He's 20 years old and still goes to college. The car thing is his hobby and he makes money off if it as well. I don't think he'd have time to be knocking out turbo kits.

Thank you...but there's a new problem now. Since I put race gas in at the track, my motor has developed a ticking noise from the top part of the motor. I went to see a friend at Infiniti and he tried resetting my VVEL Thursday and Friday...the noise is still there. So now we are going to do a compression test this week.

Th car still drives fine, AFRs are on point, gas mileage is around 15mpg, and I still did 1 more 1/4 mile run and have been boosting it since with no problems.

Thank you. I'd estimate my power to be around 450-470whp with the trap speed. It's definitely not making the 506whp when I was tuned at Z1, but I am just running a GReddy TT base map that Z1 sent me. I don't want to get the car retuned until it's 100%. I was ready to get it tuned until the noise in the motor started on October 1st.

Your power of around 450-475 is great! I'd like a little more to fully utilize the potential in 3rd and 4th. It's too easy in those gears with 400 whp on tap

BTW, can you post footage of the sound with a light revving? Have you checked the oil content to see if there are any shavings?

Could be inadequate oil/oil pressure, lifters or VVEL system is failing.

May be from the high boost (highest for the vhr ive seen) and the VVEL system is breaking down from it??

could a bad head gasket cause you to lose oil pressure in the heads?

I hope you find the problem
