Getting the itch for some updates... any progress with the latest iteration of the manifold?
|
We are on version 4.0 on the manifold. It fits perfectly!!! Now we are working on new fuel rails  the car should be up and running and back on the dyno this week. The heads on the vhr motor are not symmetrical which had the manifold in a not so ideal position. With a few design tweaks gtm was able to correct the way the manifold sat and now we may have the possibility to retain the stock cross member *fingers crossed*. now that the manifold is situated we are working on the reproducible fuel rails to allow you guys the chance to get this upgrade. Before we had one sized fuel rail for the right and a different size for the left. With the new manifold version gtm has simplified the design to allow the same size on both sides!!! keep your eyes and ears up for the next week or so ;)
|
Retaining the cross member? Symmetric fuel rails?
BTW, are you getting an engine cover? I wonder about dremeling a small section to allow easier access to the oil cap. Also, are you guys able to retain the stock oil cap? Just seeing if you are going down this path. Also, with so much invested, have you considered an engine window of some sort like the ZR-1? A properly vented and windowed painted OEM hood (i.e., keep things clean and not too aggressive looking) would be nice. If possible, please feed some photos of the fitted components. |

Is the v4.0 manifold the intake manifold? Is it the one shown as Sam's avatar pic? Only for FI or will NA see some benefits as well?

Were you guys able to get it back on the dyno this week?
I ordered the Stage II last week... definitely itching for updates since this is all I'm waiting for at the moment. |
I will call sam tomorrow... I have been in and out of town all last week... Due to weddings and mtn bike trips... Just got home last night from a 20+ mile mtn bike ride up in the north ga mountains that I swear wanted to kill me and my fiancé lol.

I wanna see this thing done! :)

I'm sure i've missed it but have their been flow tests on the VQ35HR and VR38DETT intake manifolds? How much better does the VR38DETT manifold flow?
|
flow isn't going to be the biggest advantage with the vr plenum from what i see, they both flow sufficiently for the motor but the vr manifold has nice tapered runners and plenum shape to distribute air better it may also have harmonic gains over the hr and vhr plenums that won't show up in the flow test but could have a significant effect on torque and horsepower. best of all the new manifold set will be all aluminum for increased manifold durability under boost.
|
I would love to be able to get the VR38 Plenum installed along with the stage 2 this month, but it looks like I may end up playing it safe and just have Baker install the kit. :(

Nice, almost 100 pages of posts.
|
it's officially a year I guess
|
^^And still not 1 legitimate Dyno chart... :ugh2:

-Just noting an observation in response to the two who posted above me.. 1. almost at 100 pages 2. build is officially a year 3. no dyno charts have been released, to-date Question, what is the difference between "finished" & "Completely Finished"? |
Quote:
2. The reason for the long build time (not an excuse) is the fact that we have been using my build to make these mods reproducible and not a "one off" build... 3. No dynos have been released as we have been constantly making changes... imagine the confusion if one part enables the car to make soo much power then we add a component and the numbers are not as high then we go back make revisions to that component to make sure everything works together and make even more power.... It can get real confusing... 4. Completely finished means when the reproducible part designs and the car running those parts makes the stated numbers. Please be patient we are literally days away from being finished... |

You can run a single turbo setup while you're waiting for the R&D for the second turbo to be finished :bowrofl:
|
Heck yea I'm super impatient after ordering the Stage II. :) My dad got my mom a Sonata turbo. Other than his truck, he has the Z32 turbo. That leaves me turbo-less at the moment :P
I may hold off the VR38 plenum and will get back to it at a later time. (crosses fingers) |
