Is the racing air ride suspension as good as kw v3 coilovers? Is the wing going to be taken off for a topspeed run? What LSD is the car going to run? Sorry for all the questions just trying to get ideas for my z
|
Air ride technologies has a new product line that was not at Sema this year. Their new top of the line shocks will be made by fox racing. This will definitely be a great addition. Since it is a new product I am not sure how on the performance yet we will see when the car returns. As far as differential goes when I originally talked to sam and submitted my parts list te OS Giken rear diff was part of the build list. For the top speed run yes the wing will be removed.
I hope that helps. |

Maybe this was answered before but why are you going with an air ride suspension?
|
Because this is more than a track car and I want to drive it on the street. Speed bumps rule my area of town.
|
Well why not Roberto suspension on top of some nice coilovers? Your car is going to handle like a boat.
|
This is what i am talking about in case you are wondering:

Those are blanket assumptions... You do not know the specs of this system. I will say this fox racing has a proven record and that is the brand of shocks going to be used. This car will not drive like a boat...

Mike, what settings do you have your HKS suspension tuned to?
|
I hate the hks!!! It's spring rates are not mated well with their rebound and compression mappings... In otherwards it bouncy unless you make it real stiff! Also you will need sway bars to help make them calm down. I will never listen to forged performance again when it comes to suspension!!! I have been a die hard KW v3 user for years and sadly they talked me out of them... Honestly I would stay away and I don't take advice from forged anymore because they try to sell me on what they make the most profit on! Stick with KWV3's light years better than hks plus they have independent rebound and compression which allows you to actually tune your suspension!!!!
|
Will adjusting the 2nd spring help?
|
Adjusting the helper spring will not affect the compression rebound mappins which are the issue. The compression is too soft and the rebound is too high in the mapping. Therefore the shock bottoms too easily and then rockets upward and the residual down force starts the process all over again giving you the bouncy feeling. Hks obviously developed this suspension with beefier than stock sway bars.

As I have mentioned many times, I WILL continue to delete "off topic" posts or posts that looks like posted just to stir the pot etc. If you have question for Mike or Sam, feel free to ask in a polite gesture (following the forum rules). What Mike does with his car or how many years it takes build or how much money spent on the car etc - are totally Mike and Sam's business. We don't have 1 cent invested in this project, hence we have no right to say anything other than to wait and see how this unfolds.
Thank you. Mike, if you would like to post update every x days, it'll help member keep a track of whats going on. Maybe a pic or two here and there. Quote:

Just an FYI we have a new revised version of the lower intake manifold in this week. The reason it has been quiet is that we are working to finalize any and all issues that have risen in the past few weeks. Again, this is product development and takes time... i.e. you want a perfect product? we are working to make sure you get it. We hope to be posting results this week but again I will remind you that we will not be posting results until the car is completely finished.
thanks, Mike |
Good to hear Mike, thanks for the update

These were taken by my 12 year old son, this is all I have. I didn't know he took them until he told me after we left.
