^ wow..

Jamaica 11-29-2010 04:47 PM

Been out for a while. Car looks good. But better in person.

toner123 11-29-2010 04:51 PM

idk it could be true. you have to remember some facts are going to be not revealed to us because sponsors are going to want it released for publicity. Sound weird because we are also but I am sure there are contracts involved limiting info put out.

Personally i think they kind of pre-text the article assuming that it is going to hit these numbers or greater because on the second page where it said hp-1000(est)

read these 2 again and you will see by what he means when he says he answered your question. Some of you guys need to understand how a sponsorship works. there are contracts and in those contracts they kind of tell you what you can and can't do with your car. Look at it as they bought a piece of it for a duration of time. If you break that contract you get screwed in oweing them moniez.
Frank

W.O.W. 370Z 11-29-2010 08:37 PM

LULZ I know the answer already so I wanted to hear someone say it.

BTW I am a lawyer. What are these "contracts" you speak of lol... I am intrigued....:)

toner123 11-29-2010 08:38 PM

hey mike where were those pics taken? I also like the GTM sticker on the front windshield. I asked sam for a sticker like that for the back window but i think he forgot and so did I kind off. But hell she is looking sexy I been showing all my buddies at work it, kinda like hey you think my TT set up is nice? Check this **** out lol
Frank

toner123 11-29-2010 08:47 PM

Mike might knows this better then me, since it has been a long time since I looked into this. A few example's being is when my Monte Carlo was going to be sponsored by JL i got huge discounts for products, but I had to attend at least 15 car events a year containing more then a potential of 100 visitors. so which means all major events people travel all across the country for. Another was I had to give referrals and there was a certain amount i had to do every year. Which I wouldn't have mind because JL makes some nice ****. There was alot of other stipulations. OOO the big one is you can't revel to anyone how much you pay for a product with your discount or buy things for other people. Like I said these are the few I remember. BUT and I say BUT any violation of these resulted in penalties between being dropped and having to pay all the money they discounted you plus a 10% finance charge. The way i understood it the min you broke the agreement the amount you were discounted becomes like a finance charge. Like I said i can be wrong on some of these things but this is the jest of it.

That's why I just pay for all my mods and not seek discounts/free stuff when it comes to my car. Too many rules and regulations... To each his own. No ones run my car but me!:)

there's no free lunch. a sponsorship involves work (as well as doing and NOT doing certain things) the question is whether or not you enjoy that work more than just paying full price. if you're gonna go to 15 car events anyway, it wouldn't bother you too much.

i know some kid from my highschool that has a camaro sponsored by some company that got him a ton of parts (wheels, engine components body kit stereo) installed them, tuned the car all that jazz. cost him very little. However, he gets to use the car for about a week out of every month and has to let them take it pretty much whenever. Thats an example of a bad sponsorship.

Yea but remember man not everyone is a lawyer. They don't have run of your car for life, if you know what I mean. Honestly if i wasn't in the military I would get my Z sponsored. [I]t is the only way i could afford to make it the way I want it to be. If I have to eat **** for a year or 2, to have the car I always wanted then so be it.
Frank

Ps remeber though there are good ones out there and mike is with alot of good companies, so the stipulations for him might be really good just for the companys bragging right to say they sponsor a new z with 1000 ponies.
Frank

bullitt5897 11-29-2010 10:29 PM

Yeah the stipulations are not bad and I get a good bit of leeway... however, I work for my sponsors to get them their monies worth... I have sponsored people before and I got pretty much nothing out of it and then I got some who brought me a lot of business. I look for the guy who will represent my brands and companies well enough to give sponsorships to.

I am already going to car shows, get on magazine covers and well exhibit the cars abilities so for me it was a no brainer...

@ Toner: The logos were made by Rav design for me for SEMA... Sam didnt have any available.

Mike

You definitely work for it, that is for sure. It is actually nice that you help out so many people with questions, not to mention repping some killer products. ;)

I appreciate the compliment and it truly is a full time job! I just cant wait to get a lot of this work done... The final version of the intake should be on the car soon! :excited:

The car was ready for tuning at SEMA. However, In order to get you guys the GTR conversion kit Sam had to pull the Intake manifolds to make cast copies for production. Now I leave it up to you... do you want new products or a video of a car running a week early? I choose new products

Again, everything GTM has done has been made or developed on the fly!!! GTM is also working on several peoples cars so mine isnt worked on 24/7 like most want to believe...:shakes head: My car does not take away from other peoples builds and several cars have come and gone while my car has been in their shop... And trust me I would LOVE to have my car finished already!!! I have been to their shop and each time I see my car or sit in it I want to drive it... its enough to drive you MADD!!! Since May I have been without my baby!!! But I trust Sam and the crew at GTM and I have a lot of more work to get done to the car outside of GTM.

Stay patient guys

HAHA It's cool whenever it gets done it gets done and i knew the Sit with the manifold and all that. These things take time and i was just joking wit u, but i gotta say you are one patient mofo.

Oh and the best kind of sponsorship is the RD sponsorship, no strings attached, you pay for the parts and costs and get all your labor (and maybe some part discounts) free so the company can develop new stuff on your car and learn things about it. i did it once bought all the parts brought it in but since no-one had tuned it before i left it with them (not GTM) for a few months and got it back running.

You do realize that with a Title such as yours, you will garner a lot of interest from others who have been around and heard the same words (Dreamer Threads) touted before... "*** 1000 HP and Beyond"
As far as I know, only a handful (or slighly more) of VQ's have eclipsed the 1000whp/hp mark, and GTM only has claim to maybe one of those (XKRs stroked G35)

IMO, est #'s should never be used to create an illusion or hype around a product. Let the proven power #'s, 1/4 times and quality of build speak, instead of marketing teams. I know Mark@PAS and am somewhat disappointed that his team would put such vaporware to print..
*It def does help with sales tho*

I am by no means trying to diminish your goals or aspirations, by chiming in on this thread asking for #'s.. I am just curious whether or not you will attain your goals and really would like to see what kind of power you will make when all the hype has cleared...

the thread was started around when the build started. They had 1000hp as a goal, hence the name of the thread. its impossible to have actual #'s before a build is complete. i don't really think its misleading.

The thread title is irrelevant.. Whats misleading is the fact that 1000whp and 1000hp claims were put to print, without any real world #'s.

Forget Mike...doesn't anyone care about all the members on this forum that are waiting on results!

I guess people don't understand the time/patience it takes to do a complete restoration of a car.
