The fun of going 200 MPH

danielw 11-18-2010 08:41 AM

damn, I have friends at underground racing. Had no idea this had happened.

If you watch closely you will notice he was fine when he deployed the shoot... it wasnt until he jabbed the brakes harder and then let off that the car rotated and veered off the track.

The setup they were using for the chute caused lift on the rear of the car and under light braking the car remained stable. However, when the chute deployed he added more brake pressure which transferred the vehicle weight forward to the front wheels and the rear began to lift and go sideways. Once the driver felt that... he lifted off the brakes causing the car to increase its forward motion in the new direction... where the car would have just spun if he stayed on the brakes... he now faces the chance of flipping because his ohhhh sh*t factor kicked in and his survival reaction told him to lift and he did....

The driver is not a professional racer and has very limited seat time at this speed. I remember their first videos... they built the car and he just jumped in it trying to go for the record... in my opinion it is something that must be worked up to not achieved over night.

Bullitt stop trying to derail your own thread damnit!! lol Gtm has got that manifold figured out though it could make 1 more horsepower and that wouldn't matter it it looks like that. MMmmmmmmhhh polish it...

Equinox 11-20-2010 05:47 AM

I can't wait for fan bois to do their whole crowd explain thing to people looking at your car, "Yeah you see they dropped a GTR motor in there."

1slow370 11-20-2010 06:06 AM

oh you just cursed it we are officially calling this bullitt's GTR swap

Edit: this is when he chimes in that they already were at sema and they were professionals too

bullitt5897 11-20-2010 09:11 AM

Exactly! I got sooo many of those "oooooo it's a gtr swap!" I just laughed out loud and said gt what? Not gtr... 4.5l stroker is more like it ;)

Reality 11-20-2010 07:58 PM

Has this beast put down 1000+hp?

1slow370 11-21-2010 03:11 AM

psh they haven't even gotten it running yet :stirthepot:

danielw 11-21-2010 07:39 PM

HAHAHA dont look at me! :hello:

The car was ready for tuning at SEMA. However, In order to get you guys the GTR conversion kit Sam had to pull the Intake manifolds to make cast copies for production. Now I leave it up to you... do you want new products or a video of a car running a week early? I choose new products

Again, everything GTM has done has been made or developed on the fly!!! GTM is also working on several peoples cars so mine isnt worked on 24/7 like most want to believe...:shakes head: My car does not take away from other peoples builds and several cars have come and gone while my car has been in their shop... And trust me I would LOVE to have my car finished already!!! I have been to their shop and each time I see my car or sit in it I want to drive it... its enough to drive you MADD!!! Since May I have been without my baby!!! But I trust Sam and the crew at GTM and I have a lot of more work to get done to the car outside of GTM.

Stay patient guys

did it put down 1000+hp, "back in july"?

OP,
I Hope you reach your power goals without waiting a year (or more)....

NYBladeZ 11-22-2010 10:13 AM

I'm in for new productions, I can't wait to see how the GTR manifold helps the vq37. Bullitt I don't want to see you bring home the beast and have a foot of snow on the ground.

bullitt5897 11-22-2010 10:58 AM

Snow rarely falls on the ground here in GA... However, we do get ice :( so I will have to be very careful depending on when the car arrives home... it may be after christmas depending on the new audio setup and what Jamaica can do as far as fenders and new wing mounts ;)

370z TT 11-25-2010 09:16 AM

I have a question, what wing is in the picture at SEMA? Is it more for looks or is it truly functional?

bullitt5897 11-25-2010 10:05 AM

It's functional... It's an APR GTC-500.

RCZ 11-25-2010 01:12 PM

so when do you expect numbers?

shumby 11-25-2010 01:46 PM

Nice! Good thing you got the aggressively offset wheels so they don't look too sunken in the wheel wells! Or was this part of the plan all along...

bullitt5897 11-29-2010 12:09 AM

Part of the plan but will be selling these wheels for a new set soon ;)

dixon cider 11-29-2010 01:35 AM

How much $? :driving:

W.O.W. 370Z 11-29-2010 03:52 PM

I found your PASMAG article. I had never seen it. Did you dyno the car? I found this in the article:

"The results were very impressive and enough to earn Mixon and GTM the title belt for a massive horsepower claim. The peak horsepower was over 1,000 at the wheels with an estimated 800lb-ft of torque!"

His 370Z pushes the kind of power to easily hang with the exotic Enzos, Zondas and possibly even Veyrons of the world.

It sounds like tuning hasn't started yet so that's probably not accurate. Maybe that's what they expect out of the car...

The article makes it seem like the car put out 1000 whp already.

Right. I am saying (nicely) I think that's inaccurate based on the posts above.
