Seriously Jon...

They were mounting the GTR intake adapter yesterday... the car was up in the air getting the fuel system hooked back up along with other items so the car will be running and testing begin this week... I was on the phone with Sam trying to get some other stuff taken care of when he informed me of the status of the car.

I understand people are excited and want to hear updates. But you have to understand this is a BUSY BUSY shop. GTM does not have a ton of employees and these guys are working hard to get everyone's builds done including mine.Yes could I call Sam everyday and hassle him on whats getting done... Am I going to do that? NO, I understand what it takes to get this stuff done and I trust Sam with the car. He is the kind of guy that doubles and triple checks the car before doing anything because this is just as important to him as it is to me and the rest of the community. Please show patience and when the car is back up and running and testing we will share our results.

thanks,

Mike

Mike,
I need you to REPORT every post that's off topic or unrelated to the ORIGINAL topic. NO trolling or childish BS will be allowed here. Please tell "sam" to report any useless or off topic post as well. There are plenty of places for entertainment, the tech section threads are NOT one of them!!!

Nice!! Make sure you post that when you start it!

I assume you're talking about posts like mine... It's not childish to call people on BS time lines that are quoted. And I'm certainly no troll. I've been on the Z forums for 5+ years now. I think it helps the community out as a whole by lowering unrealistic expectations on build times. I've seen to many times where the owner is expecting one thing and the shop just goes along with it to get the car and the $$$ in the door. I for one am tired of it.

Wow you have only posted 69 times in this comunity... How exactly are you helping our community? Ohhhh thats right you bring the same B.S. hatred from My350z into our community. Gotcha ;)

I have replied several times to your comments on my build times yet you obviously refuse to listen to the facts and you stick to your story and blah blah blah. If you dont have anything to add to this build or community that is constructive and helpful. then please take yourself back to my350z and continue your little rampage there. GTM has always been up front with me on realistic time lines. Changes in priorities and other shops have delayed this build along with magazine shoots, Events, and decisions on my part to start new product development on the car. If you still choose to believe your own uninformed B.S. versus taking the facts from the owner then I am just going to report your posts and ask you to leave my build thread.

Sibze 02-17-2011 10:51 AM

They are doing a one off while still building all their other products. It may be unrealistic for most Z owners but if you look at it, the Bugatti is unrealistic for 99.99% of the worlds population but that is where a lot of R&D is coming from and will in turn help make cars better and more powerful. The same goes for this project. Is everyone going to do this to there Z? NO! But a lot of new things are being tried which my come to an advantage to Z owners!

:iagree: GTR intake plenum alone is going to be a great thing. Since if anyone wants to build a motor alot of people are worried about the amount of PSI the stock one can take.

I can't believe this thread is full of people OTHER THAN MIKE who have comments and complaints about build time. Its just beyond me, its not your car in the shop, its not your car being a hardworking pioneer for the z34 community. Just goes to show if you put it on the internet people will hate for some reason or another. Mike will bring the car home when its good and ready and frankly I doubt any of us are an excited and anxious as he is, even if he drives an STi otherwise.

Nothing was directed toward you. It was a general statement for ANY/ALL members who do not keep the topic at hand.

As for your concern, leave it to Mike and Sam. It's their time and money. You have 0 involvement in this build. If you want to talk to me in private, you're more than welcome to send me a pm.

DIGItonium 02-19-2011 03:49 PM

While we are on the topic of the VR38 plenum. Chris@FsP finally found time to ship me the plenum!!! Please note my plenum came from the UK, and there are extras attached to it. Hopefully it'll be compatible with Sam's retrofit kit. As for impressions, the plenum is very light and looks very well made from the factory.

The plenum came off of a couple of blown VR38 motors from a UK owner, who is also a member on NAGTROC. The engine cover was purchased off another NAGTROC member a year ago. Can someone spare me some screws? :)

[EDIT] Oh snaps... that extra part is probably part of the plenum after all. Goodness it's $270 brand new not including the gaskets. Intake collector brand new is about $650. If you guys are looking for these parts for retrofit, definitely try to source it from blown engines.

Here are some pictures:

Glad he came threw. So when are you going to be able to the retro kit from Sam?

DIGItonium 02-19-2011 04:12 PM

Hopefully by June, but definitely waiting for updates.

Mike! what happened to your head? it's ripped apart when i saw it today.

chii370 02-20-2011 05:07 AM

its a shame sam, buddy of mine named joe (owns a white base) ordered the GTM stage 2 TT kit and got all the parts here in guam about 3 days ago. they were all jacked up, i saw the intercooler which looked like someone took a hammer to part of it before they packaged it up. i understand that all of this is custom made and handcrafted, but there was no care taken to NOT accidently angle grind the **** out of visible areas on the intake and exhaust piping while apparently trying to grind down the welds. the only thing that didnt have some form of damage or another to it were the 2 turbines......... i WAS planning on getting the exact same kit for my nismo, but depending on how this pans out with him sending his back will decide whether i will just get a HKS, or a greddy. for $8000+ i would expect everything to be PERFECT, not a beat up pile of junk, to be honest it looks like it was previously installed on another car (which is expected for testing) BUT it looks like the only tool you had to install and take it back off with was a ******* hacksaw.

lmao...well, cats out of the bag now. I was going to just tell sam that i was sending it back, or atleast the messed up pieces. I talk to some forum members and I seen a thread on here about a GTM stage 2 TT kit install by Z1 and it looks absolutly nothing like mine. In the thread the pipes were all packed with bubble wrap and the intercooler was also wrapped, mine came bare in a box I told sam about the piping being dented in at the connecting points and then I went back and was very thorough about my inspection and was when I noticed how bad everything really was. next day I had a couple ppl look at it in person (including chii) and all had the same response as chii. I'm not going to say anymore, i'd rather not create an arguement, but I wil return it or just what is messed up.

Z eliminator 02-20-2011 07:32 AM

This hard to belive Every part that i have got from GTM has been perfect and so well wrapped and packed that it takes a long time to un package it.

and is y i was shocked at what i found. thats ok, i wish i got the same but didnt. everthing else is wrapped up. I'd rather not post up pictures but I can email you some.

I'd rather not create a conflict on GTM's major thread on the forum. I just thought I should back chii up on what he said so he dosent get burned.

SPOHN 02-20-2011 09:43 AM

Ok! This has officially ruined this thread. Couldn't start another at least? I assure it will be made right by GTM. Things happen. I'm am sorry for what happen. Just don't post it here in this thread. No harsh feelings.

Vegitto-kun 02-20-2011 12:22 PM

oh god what is this **** :shakes head:.

what does the botched kit matter here.

As long as GTM is fixing it you shouldn't complain.

I myself most likely wont get GTM's TT kit but go for HKS their TT kit.

but I still immensely respect GTM for the work they are doing on our cars.

First of all this is the WRONG place to post this! Secondly, I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe SAM sold someone a new hacked up kit that was poorly made. You honestly are not in the "know" because if you where you would know this is the farthest from what GTM represents and what conditions their products are in. If Sam said it was damaged by shipping then it was damaged by shipping. I have Detailed pics of my first kit when it arrived and I will tell you every piece down to bolts was individually packaged!!! Then they were packaged in groups by part and then boxed as a kit piece. Not a single product have I gotten from GTM ever looked like a hacksaw came within a hundred yards of it.

I understand your concern for your friend and the kit he purchased from GTM. GTM has always been stand up in making sure things are fixed and made right. Destiny just talk to Sam and send him the pictures. He will fix what ever issue your having with parts. It took me nearly an hour to unpack everything with my first kit. Your in good hands and I as the rest of us know you will be taken care of.

Enough with the off topic banter.

I am asking if you do not have anything specific to this build please do not post.

Thank you!

NewYorkJon34 02-21-2011 09:54 AM

To get back on topic, bullitt do you know which car they are testing the manifold on first: supercharged Z or stock Z?

Mike@GTM 02-21-2011 01:15 PM

In regards to the shipping issue described in the this thread, we are very accessible and take care of our customers. As soon as we received the call from Joe regarding the issues, we took care of him. In fact, we are sending out replacement parts before we even receive the damaged ones.

Our shipping department is OCD when it comes to packing parts. Everything is bubble wrapped and protected before shipping. Of all the kits we have shipped out, this is the first time something major happened during shipping. Regardless, we are here to take care of our customers and ensure that they get what they pay for and that does NOT mean "hacked up parts". We take a lot of pride in what we do and shipping garbage is not something we do...unless of course, you decide not to recycle the bubble wrap you receive with your kit. ;)

Anyway, back on topic, we'll be testing the manifold on bullitt's project first.

Wasn't the manifold on bullitt's car at sema? Either way, it will def be an improvement over the stock manifold.

Just out of curiosity and to kinda update the thread a bit Bullitt, can you give a quick rundown of everything (Performance/Engine/Drivetrain) -wise that been done/or in the process of for your Z. Just curious of what the grand list is. Perhaps that might allow people to see exactly just how intensive this process is and what all you and Sam are working on to bring this beast to life...
