You had to get a valve body upgrade (at about 1000 bucks) and reflash the rev limit higher to even start using that tranny and it was still weak. The new 7AT seems to be much better with faster shift speeds but it's kind of a wait and see. This tranny holds 390 hp on the FX45 w/o any problems and I assume it's gonna be somewhat over engineered.
The rev limit thing may well be an issue with FI with our 7AT too. The overrev is tiny and barely noticeable, mostly on 1-2, but you can tell it's on the verge of not reacting quickly enough. Right now the main limitation is my reaction time though. You have to learn to click a little bit before you want the shift to occur, so you don't bump the redline before the 7AT even starts the actual shift. I'm getting better at it every day, but clicking at exactly the right moment on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts during WOT accel is still a little challenging.
