The tune isn't correct on your car and Stillen has told you that they are working on a solution and in the meantime not to drive it, if your engine blows from driving on it you really have no one to blame but your self.

You must be little late to the party. Its not like its been a few days or a few weeks its been 7 weeks. Go ahead and spend $10,000 on a kit and install to have your car inoperable. Then let me know how u feel:ugh2:

:iagree: I know alot of people are going to get pissed about him saying that but it's true. I know alot of people that are giving him ****, bitched about alot less of things. Go buy a TV from the store and go home and plug it in and it doesn't work. Then after taking it back to the store they tell you they can't return it you have to call the company. Well you get home and call the company and they tell you, ohh were having issues with that model your going to have to wait 7 weeks to get it fixed. I know alot of you would be pissed and don't even try to act like you wouldn't. He has every right to be pissed off about, not only did he spend alot of money for the kit, but now he cant't even drive the car he bought. I don't know about you guys but I didn't buy my car so it can sit in a garage and look pretty. The truth of the matter is STILLEN F*C*JED UP period. Now they are doing what they can to fix the situation and I applaud them for that but that still doesn't mean he does not have the right to be upset and feel like he didn't get what he paid for. thats just my 2 cents.
Frank

:iagree: Have you considered getting a custom tune, I bet you want the warranty but if it is tuned right and motor is not a lemon you really shouldn't need the warranty. I am sorry to hear how long you have been waiting for your car.

You know what I agree. Personnally I would have gotten a custom tune and asked stillen to help pay for it. In my eyes that would be awsome retribution. Help pay for custom tunes untill they get there tune down right. Give them a call and present this proposal

In week 5 of waiting for a tune from stillen, i talked to my shop about presenting this option to stillen. I was reminded that since i live in cali i should get the carb kit. ALso this would void any warranty implied by stillen. At the end of the day i just want what i paid for, the tuned carb kit.

yeah man, try to stick with their program as much as you can. we Cali boys need that CARB sticker. won't be fun getting a damn state ref ticket and having to remove everything and return back to stock just to pass CARB lol. i totally understand how you feel man, and hopefully they'll get you on the road asap.

axio 08-18-2010 07:21 PM

Weiboy, does that mean your sc kit is actually CARB approved and has a CARB sticker on it?

i wished hahaha! they haven't sent their test vehicle out so at this moment nobody is CARB legal yet. if i had that sticker i wouldn't be so anal when seeing cops and i'll actually rev a little harder just so they can hear my SC and won't be scared lol's. can't wait to get that sticker.:shakes head: and i'll show it off more often.

It does look good. Did you have to switch out the stock STB or does it actually fit?

tomnavone 08-18-2010 08:02 PM

Correct me if im wrong but isnt all this "its uprev problems cause they cant figure out a tune" really the fault of stillen who after production replaced the pully and never had uprev retune for the new pully?

LateralG'z 08-18-2010 08:48 PM

$10,000 on just the kit plus install? That's a lot higher than I was expecting. :eekdance:

+1
your set up will be different in different area because of the Tax we have here in California plus whatever shop you choose to take it to and their shop rate.

g37 mobbin, nice car and hope you get it back soon!

You might like to know, according to Run D.M.C., the word is ILLIN' RUN D.M.C. - YOU BE ILLIN' LYRICS

Or:
Quote:

Contrary to most of the definitions found here, this is the correct one:
'ILL' : Adjective meaning 'wild' or 'crazy'. Not always derogatory, but used when something may be so outrageous so as to be unruly.
'ILLIN': Adjective or Verb. Lunatic behaviour. See above.
"The guy was drunk - he was Illin'"
So the "Illest" just ain't working... Would like to suggest "Illinest" or "Most Ill"... otherwise you get no props from us old dudes! :)

I'm not at all saying they are in the right or giving them a free pass to take forever with a fix, though them taking forever with a fix and someone driving a car with a tune thats known to be faulty are two seperate issues.

Personally yes I believe Stillen should be stepping up and helping these guys that were shipped what they thought was a good kit only to have it diable their car for approaching two months now, course that is all between them and stillen. I didn't mean to imply in my first post that I thought the people with disabled cars should just suck it up and give Stillen a free pass.

Prosport Gauges 08-19-2010 11:48 AM

Point is, stillen is working on this guys....

BTW, josh pm me back prices on the stuff i emailed you about please.

Well that seems a lot more reasonable that the claim of just the kit and an install for $10K I was reading. I was figuring you could get out at around 7 to 8K total if you were careful.

I've seen people got their kits installed along with tranny and oil cooler for 7500. I paid 7500 for just the kit installed, for 10k you're pretty much good to go.

wifedrivenZ 08-19-2010 06:27 PM

I have not been on this thread for a few weeks, but it has not changed much. People are still saying they will get there car on the dyno and never post it. So here is what I have for you all. I had my SC installed in late June. I was in Iraq and could not drive it. When I got home it was happy days. All I had to do is get the new pulley installed and throw the 2nd tune on it and I was off to the races that night. When I got to the shop I had an oil leak in the SC. After the shop talked to Stillen they overnighted a new pump and paid for the install. So a week later I picked up my car and it is running ok. People are saying there car is doing this and doing that all I can complain about is from the smell it is running rich. I have not taken the car to the shop for a Dyno yet because I don't have a boost gauge yet. I is in and waiting for it to get installed and put on the dyno. On tues next week I will be able to give you more information about how the SC is running and post the dyno results.
People don't come on a message board to talk about how good there car is and how Nissan built the perfect car. They come on and say they really could of made it a little better. Stillen put out a product and there are going to be some problems along the way, but when they are willing to fix there problems at no cost to the customer that makes them a stand up company. My car may not be perfect but I know they are working on making it the best SC out there.
I will get back with you all next week.

you don't necessary need a boost gauge to get it dyno. your tuner should have all that stuff readily to use for customers that don't have one.

I would have to disagree on this point. Look at other threads about exhausts or whatever and if the product is good and liked we say so. If a product isnt what they claim, we say so. This is exactly what this forum is for on one point. A car that cant be driven is unacceptable if not provided a replacement. I would hate to make a payment on something I cant drive. I bet most in here bitch the minute their cable tv or internet goes out. But thats just me.

sgthanzo 08-20-2010 09:08 AM

Right on spot, ZSteve...

When "customers" put their money on the line, expectation is that the product is as advertised at base layer. Stillen, or any other vendor, needs to have a contingency on how to keep their customer base "on the road" especially when their product ends up disabling the car. It's the least the vendor could do to lessen the aggravation and negative impact to said customer...

I have been eagerly awaiting the purchase of this SC to upgrade my Z. Given the things that Stillen needs to iron out... I think I'm going to wait a little while -- or choose an alternative if this product fails to 'mature' in 4-6 months time frame.

MMC Racing 08-20-2010 10:53 AM

ok so looking back to the last 10 or so pages on the forum, from what i can gather:

RCZ - does not have any issues at all; his kit was installed and tune by HPLogic and using the old pulley, which supposedly was hitting higher than 8 psi
Weiboy - car is running great after getting new tune and pulley; however, dyno still pending and do not know his car's hp/trq numbers
wifedrivenz - initially had a leak but was fixed with stillen's help; dyno still pending and do not know his car's hp/trq; car is running great but seem rich
Tomnavone - issues w/ tune and car was suggest not to be driven; waiting for stillen to fix tune
LateralG'z - car is running great (installed and tuned by FSP) but running lower than expected hp/tq so they are trying to get old pulley just like RCZ's
G37mobbin - 2 months down in the garage and counting
Osiris - 2 months down in the garage this saturday
Phimosis - car is at stillen and uprev is fixing stillen's tune
willtangclan - kit appears to be running ok; had issues where every 1000km it throws a misfire or something code and only allows car to rev a 1K

i did not go all the way back pass 15 pages but i hope there are more of the customers who suposedly has no issues with the kit to post their experience in the forums so ppl start feeling better on buying this kit...
