UPDATE:

For the last couple of weeks we have been off the forums and working diligently on resolving the couple of issues that we have seen. We have been working behind the scenes with the couple of customers that have experienced issues after their supercharger installation. The vast majority of our customers who have received and installed their supercharger systems are on the roads and enjoying their kits. Unfortunately we have had reports from a couple of customer’s experiencing issues that we did not experience on any of the vehicles we tested prior to releasing the kit. We are continuing to work day and night and through the weekends to work on correcting any issues these customer’s have been experiencing.

To date we have been working very hard on the tuning and software that we use. Early in the development of our supercharger system we made the decision to tune via the UpRev software, directly through the factory ECU. In the beginning of the year Jared (UpRev head tuner) and John (UpRev head engineer) both flew out to our shop and trained our guys on how to use their software. This time was vital as the UPrev guys were able to show our engineers the ins and outs of their software and offer tips on what to expect. They spent about a week with our engineering team and everyone felt like we were on the right path and had a great partner to work with. Fortunately, UpRev has been very supportive to aid in correcting these couple of issues. At this time we have arranged to bring Jared out from Texas first thing Monday and he will spend next week working with our team again to correct the issues a couple of our customers are having.

The UpRev software that we are using is identical to the software used by any other UpRev tuner with only one difference that we required. With our software the end user has the ability to upload our flash tune, datalog the performance of their car, pull and read trouble codes, everything that the Osiris/Cipher software can do. The only difference is that we needed the tune to be locked down and unable to be altered. This is mandated by CARB and our warranty provider. Obviously those states that comply with CARB regulations will not allow something to be considered emissions legal when such vital parameters can be so easily altered. To meet these requirements UpRev pulled out a software tool that they had developed for another company a couple of years ago but never went into production. At the time the software was not quite finalized but they worked hard to complete it and get it ready for our supercharger system.

We will have more updates as they become available but for now the most important thing to know is that there are only a couple of isolated issues and they represent a very small percentage of the total number of kits we’ve sold. We are working extremely hard to get these issues corrected and we are working directly with our customer’s to make sure their vehicle’s are safe and strong.

Thank you very much!

Red370 08-12-2010 08:29 PM

and the speculation comes to an end, thanks for the update gentlemen.

Anyone else with the Stillen sc encounter this problem?

The car ran perfect for about a thousand km. The engine light then came on and the car idles at 1K rpm. I took it back to my mechanic and the ecu threw a misfire code. I called Josh @ Stillen and they said it was a vacuum leak or one of vacuum lines might be kinked. My mechanic went through the install and made sure no lines were leaking or kinked. So he resetted the code and the car idled normal again. Now i drove it for another thousand km and the engine light is back on and the car is idleing at 1K again.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys

LateralG'z 08-12-2010 09:58 PM

Nope sorry to hear about this

Curious...do you also have the oil cooler?

MMC Racing 08-12-2010 10:52 PM

What is considered a small percentage - 30%?

GUTCH 08-13-2010 12:40 AM

Can we please hear from all of those customers whose kits are working fine?

That would help ease some concerns surely.

Yes i do have an oil cooler. Another thing i've noticed, when the engine light is on, the oil temperature is about 10 degrees celsius hotter.

This happened to me just after my HFC/Intake install. I threw a CEL and started idling over 1k. Reset the ECU and it has yet to happen again in over 8,000 miles. My mechanic said it was a lean code /shrug.

weiboy718 08-13-2010 09:34 AM

I had a code thrown once. Pulled the code and reset it and still good till this day. The code was bank 1 too lean and my idle was at 1k also.

willtangclan 08-13-2010 10:13 AM

The code went away on it's own last night? Hopefully it will stay off.

RCZ 08-13-2010 10:21 AM

ah, so I'm not so lucky after all.

why what happened?

RCZ 08-13-2010 10:32 AM

No, I mean it seems that kits working right is actually normal. So I'm not lucky, its just that some people on here are very unlucky.

sorry for the misinterpretation. yeah, mine is still there

Lets hear from all the people with the kits running properly instead of all these people whining about their kit not working:stirthepot:

Maybe EGR hose is kinked? I took my car in for ac work and the guy commented that the short run of EGR hose is not a formed hose, but turns almost 90 degrees and was kinked shut.

NYBladeZ 08-13-2010 06:14 PM

Stillen states on their site that the kit leaves room for growth. Any more details available? Ex. what pullies are available and how hard are they to swap out?

That's got to be the last thing on Stillen's mind right now... they're trying to get the base kit to work!

NYBladeZ 08-13-2010 06:48 PM

Well if they state it on their website they should have some sort of answer

you will only hear RCZ and Weiboy and Stillen's car that have had Success...the rest of us are in the same boat facing similar issues.

You are but a small percentage (90%) having problems.. ;)

LateralG'z 08-14-2010 04:10 AM

We are getting things running a lot better with my set-up now that Uprev has done some updates to my ROM, Hopefully will get it on the Dyno this afternoon if they can squeek us in. Will definitely have the car running good and finished soon.

Just got back from doing some tuning and everything is worked out good and Chris has it running amazing. We are going to Dyno Monday since we couldn't get on today. Been driving it in the 107 ambient today and everything was running great. Uprev has made some updates to my ROM and everything seems to be working good so far.

This is same as i have heard. Although i also "heard" that they identified the problem. So i hope the solution is close to follow (like this coming week).

Just got back from some full length RPM & full boost pulls and everything was great. It is noticable after 3 grand and really noticable after 4.5 grand. The car made it up to 140 in a hurry. Chris has the drive ability down to a stock feel until you stomp on it. Made the full 8 psi with test pipes and saclam exhaust. The extra power makes the exhaust really scream. Dyno results later this week. Hopefully Monday night

Thanks! I am excited to get on the Dyno and see the numbers, last night we were out running the car and doing some road tuning and came up on some sooped up stangs, camaros, wrx's, supras, and few others, did some highway pulls and kept up and even pulled on a couple. That felt nice, I can't wait to get it to the track next month.
