Default Rotrex Build

After almost a year of waiting, my Z is finally going into the shop for a topgunz rotrex install and tune soon. I know there've been a few requests for videos of complete builds and I'm definitely going to do that, but figured I'd ask what kind of videos you guys are looking for that I might be able to make. I'm going to have low/med/e85 boost settings and have access to a dyno that's about an hour away from me so I'm guessing that'll be one video. Other than that, I run my car at altitude and the main goal for me was to gain the power (and then some) that I lose. I start drives around 6k feet and I'm already down somewhere between 60 and 70hp when I walk out my door. Of course all of the beautiful drives include passes near 9k where I'm probably down close to 100hp so you can kinda see why forced induction was my goal. Anyways, what do you guys wanna see?

Details:
Rotrex kit
wastegate conversion (custom request from my tuner)
ID 1350 injectors
Radium surge tank
AEM 50-1200 lift pump
Ti Automotive BKS1001 Brushless main pump

I'm on the fence with this one. Wanted to go FI on my 14 Nismo and told myself to stay away from blowers. But the specs on this look awesome. Low/mid/upper range power. Decisions, decisions.

I'm running TopGunz's v1 on my 07 nismo and I just never got to REALLY like centri superchargers. TG's v1 kit is awesome... especially having started with the default Stillen air-water setup. It's probably the vortech and it's short comings. Great top end power...not really useable when you hit peak HP at 7,500rpms Not much in low/mid range without upgrading the impellar, downsizing pulleys, cog mods. It's noisy... sucking in Children from the neighborhood. (running a screen). With Uprev, never been able to really get perfect idle. I get surge once in a while... lose low end power with exhaust mods.

But again, the ACE kit and this Rotrex kit solves all the shortcomings of the V1 kit and that god foresaken Stillen manifold and failing TB / MAF cables.

Yeah the FI kit is nice and I looked into it before deciding on this kit. For me it ended up being that I’m just not the biggest fan of turbos. I’ve been watching TG develop his kits for years and could never stomach the limitations of the vortech unit so I just sat out waiting for something else to come along. Hopefully my build will be done in the next week and I’ll be out driving soon.

After coming from being supercharged for 4 years and now having Fast Intentions tt's, I'd never go back to superchargers although the Rotrex is a good alternative and a hell of a lot cheaper

Cool yeah turbos can be a ton of fun. What did you most like about switching from superchargers to turbos?

The biggest thing is the turbos make more power at a lot less boost than the supercharger did. A couple other things are belt slip issues and I was getting real bad bov flutter. Keep in mind, I was pushing the crap out of a Vortech though. I'd never do another build with a Vortech. You're on the right track with the Rotrex. Here's a dyno comparison chart of my Vortech compared to the TT's. The TT's are the red graph

Bruh, the supercharger made more power so clearly you’re wrong. I kid, I kid. I’ll bet your car is a hoot to drive!

I like it because it has the linear power curve like the supercharger but makes more power and torque in the lower rpm range. Just for fun, Seb added a few percentage points to the duty cycle after that run and here's what it did. He backed it off to 15 psi so it's making a little over 700 on my high boost map. It's a blast to drive

That looks pretty sweet! Eugene's got me set up at 13lbs of boost. I should be doing a dyno day in about 6 weeks and I'm looking forward to seeing what my car looks like too.

Post up the numbers. Always love seeing what the Rotrex is capable of
