Hey Guys,
Just got my car back from RT Tuning with the SC installed. Came back with some pretty solid dyno numbers for a car that has almost 70k miles. 543 Whp and 426 Tq @ 14 Psi on 93 Octane. First I want to thank Aaron for making an awesome kit and the constant improvements that he makes to this kit. His dedication to his craft is unparalleled. Secondly, I'd like to thank Erik, Vince and the rest of the guys at RT Tuning for all of their knowledge and advice thru this whole process.
The only issue that I am left with is the annoying chirping/fluttering of the Tial BOV between 2.5k and 3.5k Rpm at low to mid throttle. I know this issue has been addressed numerous times here and the most common fix recommended is to increase the spring pressure in the BOV. Has anyone tried this with success? And also I am thinking about possibly trying out the Precision Turbo 50mm BOV. If anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I can chime in here since I've tried everything. I have the precision turbo bov, the q50 with 4 different springs tried and its still there. The precision turbo bov makes it quieter but its still there. From what I've read on other forums, people said its the location of the bov. Heres a video of what your describing.

as you can see it only happens when boost is around 0 psi

Thanks for the input. I knew you would know exactly what I was talking about since I've read all of your posts on this issue. So what have you decided to run with after all of your testing? Do you know if anyone has tried the Tial QRJ? I'm not opposed to trying out other possible solutions for the good of all of us.

I'm just going to deal with it until someone finds a solution. I actually tried the QRJ and it was the worst out of all of them lol.

Did you try using a 3 psi spring instead of the 1.5 psi that comes with it?

What spark plugs are you all using with this kit? Brand? Part #? Gap? Thanks!

blaineanator 09-07-2020 05:36 PM

10 psi

This is interesting because I had the same WHP at 10 PSI??

It depends on what you have done to the exhaust too on a S/C Z.

I'm running NGK Iridium DILKAR8A8 gapped I believe at 0.032. They are the same ones the GTR uses.

So what Whp are you at now and what Psi?

I've tried every spring tial offers. I even went the extra step of shaving the lightest spring that they offer to make it even lighter. The noise is still there.

Thank you for the info. I thought Aaron was still including these in the kits, but apparently not, so I have to source them elsewhere.

Psi

I tuned last month on Uprev at 542 WHP. I peaked at 10 PSI. I have a turboguard intake and true dual exhaust with TP.

I'm going to say this as respectfully as possible, but surely you expected some additional noise/new sounds when doing such a modification? Especially with a centrifugal supercharger which are notoriously noisy.

A chirping noise never happened with Aaron's previous A2A kit. This one does. Its not a healthy noise because its coming from air being forced out of the supercharger inlet.

I have his first A2A version with the Tial BOV and whatever spring it came with and I can assure you it makes the fluttering noise at 0 on my boost gauge while cruising along the road.
At first I though it was an idler pulley noise, but now I know it's normal for this BOV setup it doesn't bother me.
