Most of mine are an envelope but I don't ever think about adding them up or even look at them. Once I buy something I'm done unless I need to return it.

I keep my receipts for a while, then toss. The big stuff I remember. Because of the shock. The little stuff, not so much. But that little stuff adds up really fast.

At some point it really doesn't matter anymore. It is just part of what I love to do and it doesn't impact me in being a responsible husband. I take car of stuff that matters first and the car is my sprinkles on the cake for getting to where I am at in my life and I will not apologize for that!!!
