Default Random car gremlin

Ok I know this will be almost impossible for anyone to answer I’m just hoping maybe someone has had this happen to them and point me in the right direction ....2017 370z nismo with boosted performance kit ...everything runs great ..no engine lights ..no misfire or poor performance engine idles fine ....however over the last few weeks I have noticed when I hit some rough bumps ..railroad tracks ...bumps that usaually hit both front tires at the same time ,my radio screen would go blank and stop playing for a few secs then come right back on ....now it seems to have advance to all power on the dash and car tuning off ....it is random and I can’t replicate it at will... car will start right back up . I can’t see anything obvious ...only thing I can think of is maybe the charge pipe that cuts over by the starter is against or hitting power wire and causing some grounding issue or maybe something behind the dash. I know it’s a very odd issue that can have a dozen causes but any info would be helpful .

Random gremlins like this are almost always power-related. It may be time for a new battery. I've had things like this happen in the past, and even though the battery checked out as ok on the NAPA/Autozone battery tests, I replaced it anyway, as it was due to be replaced, and it fixed the issues.

Also, check your battery terminals and make sure they're nice and tight

I'd avoid driving over any RR tracks anymore... or pot holes. That should fix it. You're welcome.

(In all seriousness, that sounds like an extremely annoying issue. Post again when you find out the issue.)

So I checked battery connections ...all are tight and clean .... went to take car out and when I put in reverse lost all power in dash for a sec car cut off ..I restarted it with no issues ....it did this twice when putting in reverse.while sitting in the garage, after the second time it was fine so I took it out for a drive no issues ....so i would assume it isn’t a loose connection since I was sitting still while putting it in reverse...the search continues

A loose connection can affect the system at any time - bumps just tend to make it worse.

I feel your pain in thinking that you can rule out power related issues, but I would still keep them in mind. It can seem impossible for a weak battery to cause some of the problems that it does. How old is your battery?

EDIT: nevermind, I see you're driving a 2017

Voltatge is steady 14 or better ... I’m wondering if there is anything it the clutch pedal adjustment that would cause this ... it was adjusted after clutch job .... if not I’m back to square one

A bad clutch pedal switch will prevent starting and will reduce engine output if pressed at the wrong time but I don't remember seeing anything about it causing your symptoms.

Download the FSM (link in my sig) - it has a lot of troubleshooting info.

Yea I didn’t think the clutch pedal would cause this just going over things that have been touched or adjusted first ... I thought it was a loose connection but really threw me off when it did it just putting it in reverse ... electrically I haven’t done much .. took out the subs and added amp and sub ... but I figured if the was a issue from that it would be popping fuses it’s just strange .. like it has a power interruption and back on again ... I was leaning toward maybe loose ignition connection and that’s why all the dash cuts out ... it’s like someone is pushing the ignition button

Add additional ground leads from battery to engine, transmission & firewall...can’t have too much ground....also check connection at starter (where you clocked the connection) for the BP kit. You throwing down double power than car came with

That connection was never clocked ... I read about clicking it about a month after install .. it was a tight fit and the rubber boot might have been damaged ... I’ll be checking that spot first .. maybe the engine movement it tapppibg the pipe and causing it

One other thing I would check is the ground strap that connects to the transmission. After I did my clutch job it was loose and caused all sorts of problems until I found it.

It sure sounds like a grounding problem because you are loosing all power.

I didn’t think about that ..I had a new clutch done not to long ago ...and don’t think there was any issues before that....I’m not sure where that ground is but it shouldn’t be too hard to find

Little more info ...so through searching for this ground issue ..I had a power steering high pressure line bust ..while replacing the line I noticed it looked strange wasn’t much damaged around the area the was leaking ...just a few scratches and a pin hole ....the air filter had pressure on the power steering bracket pushing it down just a little making it rub the frame ......while changing it the wrench hit the frame while wrenching the line tight.....wouldn’t you know it ..pow and sparks ........soooo I have to find out why my frame has a positive charge and why no fuses are popping ....I am just awful with electrical issues ..I just know the basics
