I'm used to dealing with them on Very LARGE Engines. :icon14:

See, you explained it perfectly :tiphat: Why couldn't Spooler do that? He had to bring numbers into it. I ain't no gooder with numbers :rofl2:

Spooler 07-13-2021 10:06 PM

Go back and look at the video for a glimpse of the FI intercooler. I have no idea how my car will do but it should do well. How well, I don't know. If I was measuring boost pressure before and after the intercooler I would know what kind a pressure drop I am getting. At high boost I beat I am dropping 2 to 4 psi after the intercooler because of the end caps. That drop creates heat.

Spooler 07-13-2021 10:08 PM

One heck of a journey and I am still learning. If it was easy, everybody would do it.

Why did they not measure boost pressure before and after the intercooler?

And I'm coming from supercharging which I learned a lot about. Hell, Seb referred everyone to me to answer supercharger questions. Now I have to learn turbocharging.

What ya gonna measure it with and collect the data. A standalone would be the only option to get good data. I knew I had an issue but didn't understand why. Now I do. I am just sharing with everyone like I always do.
That is the Engineer in my. I just can't help myself.

When I was having boost issues with my new supercharger, Seb measured boost pressure on both sides of my IC.

Rusty 07-13-2021 10:28 PM

To do it properly. You would need to have pressure sensors at each IC inlet and outlet. Before the throttle bodies. Before and after the turbo hot side. At the ends of the tail pipes. Vac sensors at the air filters. At the front of the turbo inlet cold side. Then know on how to read all of the information.

Well, I didn't require it. It was take it off the dyno and make me an IC. Decision took about 2 seconds.

Spooler 07-13-2021 10:33 PM

I already knew what Justin's car did with GT3076 turbo's with the same AR. They are very similar to mine. The difference was the parts of the turbo kit he used. The CJ motorsports TT parts are very efficient for sure
and I already knew that.

Didn't you know by IAT's that you had an IC issue. My IAT's were good

Yes, but what was it? Intercooler or turbo's? My best guess was the intercooler. I don't mess around too much. I normally have already thought about things way before hand. I just move forward.

True. Intercooler is the easiest thing to change out and cheapest (and I don't mean cheap though) :rofl2:

Hotrodz 07-13-2021 11:12 PM

So if I understand everything you guys have been talking about, the bigger the AR the littler you **** is...so who has the biggest **** Spooler or Redondo?

Yeah, saw that. They are pushing the event to Oct 3rd... no action required for ticket holders. If there's another event prior to that, they will allow transfer to that one.

They were supposed to make this call Thursday but it looks like someone got antsy and called it today. :ugh2: I would think a late Thurs/early Fri go/no-go decision would have been appropriate and allow for folks to plan accordingly.

Was hoping to go and possibly see you there @MrSqueeze! next time...

I will share pictures when it is all done.

Spooler 07-15-2021 01:15 AM

I am excited to see how the car does with the new intercooler. I have a feeling I was leaving a bunch of HP on the table. All the reading I have done makes me think it may be a big jump.

Big time fan boy! He even said that he switched from Seb to Moncef.... :shakes head: Those flame maps must really get these younger guys....Almost all the Z guys (N/A) here drool over Moncef and have been hinting at me to switch. I just chuckle and tell them to do more research. :gtfo2:

Have you ever looked into a turbo speed sensor?

For a standalone, yes. I really don't need one at the moment. I am not trying to extract every last ounce out of my engine. If you give me 10 to 15k, I will get a Motec M150 installed and the software written to data log with it.

Spooler 07-15-2021 09:18 PM

If anyone wants to take the lead, go ahead by all means. You won't hurt my feelings any.

I'll email SOHO and have them go ahead and order the Motec for you per your instructions. I'll follow up with the payment. :tiphat:
