Did anyone have a hard time getting the down pipe inserted into the turbo?? It doesn't seem like the flange will fit into the compressor housing

Assuming it is actually the wrong size, COMP may have sent you the wrong turbo. Email Sasha with details & include your phone number.

Idk it matches up it just won't go into the turbo housing. I've been trying for the last hour. Isn't there a way to verify I have the right turbo?

***EDIT: The inner diameter of the housing should be 3.0”. Check if they sent you a 2.8” or the proper 3.0”. If it’s 3.0 maybe it’s just difficult to do and someone else may chime in. If it’s 2.8 there’s your problem.

Loosen the v-band on the tail end of the downpipe and seat the turbo side first. That seal can be a bitch to get right. I dropped my downpipe a few months ago and I have gotten it seated correctly since. Might help to loose the four bolts on the hot side flange to give you a little wiggle room. Worse comes to worse you can put a little RTV on it to make the seal.

Jwick, it is not that. For whatever reason a one customer was sent the wrong turbine housing. The down pipe now has a 1/4" lip (3" diameter pipe) past the V-band on the turbine side. This allows for a tongue and groove connection, eliminates the need for RTV, and does not mess with the wideband sensor readings...a much better seal.

So the housing that was sent with that turbo did not have the 3.05" inside diameter outlet flange to allow for the the protruding piece to go in to.

That just sounds like another item to increase the difficulty of aligning the downpipe. Glad I don’t have that.

So is there anything I can do to find out if I have the wrong turbine housing sasha?

You can measure the inside diameter of the turbine outlet.

I believe that this was a random, isolated case.

Yes I've been having a similar issue. It matches up but I've tried getting the down pipe flange into the turbo housing but it doesn't want to go in. So to speak.

I took a measurement of the housing and it looks to be 3" exactly. But its not easy to measure .05". The down pipe appeared to be just under 3in or 3in exactly. Im probably going to give it another shot later today or tomorrow

Still no luck, after talking to other BP comp turbo owners and a few more attempts I'm pretty positive that I have the wrong turbo.
