Default Stillen SC fuel and cooling issues

Hello.

Currently, my car is at Stillen due to issues I had post-install. There appear to be two major problems with Stillen's SC kit.

1. Fuel management - the tune appears to have a big problem with fuel. It's definitely not properly managed given the overwhelming number of vehicles that experienced the identical aftermath in short time-periods.

2. Cooling - I've been reading a lot about cooling problems. It seems that the Frozenboost heat-exchanger is the answer to this, but Stillen says it will violate EPA regulations.

My two questions -

1. Who has solved the fuel management issue?

2. How hard would it be for Stillen to get the heat-exchanger emissions approved? Given that the heat-exchanger is a serious necessity, they need to look into making it simply part of the kit.

1. tune is the problem, they should sort that out. easy fix.

2. although the frozen boost can help, It really isn't the big problem, The after cooler is way to small to cool these engines. MAF postion aswell.

3. I highly doubt the frozen boost will help the motor put out more emissions, it might put out a little more, but it should still be CARB approved.
once the car is epa cert. put the intercooler on and call her a day

I still have not seen any proof (data) that the frozen boost front mount is any better than the one Stillen provides. Does anyone have this?

While it is bigger, I do not think it is all that efficient.

I dont remember who it was here but ran a back to back dyno and made more whp with the frozen boost.

Remember not only is it bigger sits in the lower grill opening and its not bolted to the radiator. Something I never understood

I wonder if the engine temp was the same on both runs. How much more did they make?

With stillen seeing and hearing all these issues with their kits why don't they do anything about it ? It drives me nuts that topgun has to come
Up with something to make stillen owners life easier ! They are a huge company I don't get it !

My guess is that an air to air setup is hard to get a CARB approval for.

I imaging that getting the CARB approval was an expensive and time consuming endeavor. Just imagine the paperwork and hassle working with a government process.......

They might could get a waiver on an a2a setup because it only changes the way the air charge is cooled but I don't know that for sure and it would likely be a time consuming task which as we all know, time is money.

They probably don't sell enough of these kits to warrant the investment into it. This is where the after market comes in with upgrades. The aftermarket suppliers don't have to worry about emissions because it is you, the consumer that is making a modification to the system. CARB compliance be d*mned.

An A2A system would actually cost lest to design and produce.
if they could use the stock intake manifold that is.

But as Charles said, its all because of carb cert.

CARB cert requires crash testing and meeting safety standards too. (Air to air IC requires modification to the stock bumper beam - safety component.) It costs a lot and takes a lot of time to run that process. I'm not sure what the process is to amend an existing certification though. Maybe less, but I still don't think it's just a simple form submission.

Here's the thread that I believe ANMVQ is referring to.

Croydon Racing Developments Stillen Custom Tune

On a side note.....why wouldn't the Frozenboost Heat Exchanger meet EPA requirements?
