Which is basically what I said. The thing with the pump is that it's one more thing to go wrong , and that wrong could come from any number of things unrelated to the pump itself. I'm not making stuff up I've lived it. With that said if it were that much of a big deal I wouldn't still be running the exapump. Going with a Procomp wasn't on my radar until Sasha himself mentioned it to me. It simply prompted the thought of the simplicity of the setup. But I will say that if I get a wild hair the exapump is a gonner.

A lot of them have been install related. I would say that the COMP turbos are performing better than the standard Precision JB turbos the kit came with.

The other REALLY BAD part about the Precision turbos, is that the manufacturer blamed any/all issues on "oil contamination" which I always thought was complete BS. COMP on the other hand repaired issues at no cost, even when it was an install error.

I have a Precision 6266 with a brand new scavenge pump in stock, as well as a COMP 6767. The COMP is what I'm putting in my car with the build this winter.

I haven’t had any issues with my comp turbo ... I’m at about 22k miles on it .. only thing I have noticed is you can hear the ball bearings at low speed and idle very faintly ... doesnt seem to affect performance or anything .. you can hear the turbo spin for about 20 secs after the car is turned off. And most research I can find on triple ball bearings people tend to say they that’s about normal. Not to imply that it’s better than an oil fed turbo but just the simplicity of not needing oil lines and scavenge pump to deal with is awesome

Hey Sasha, what do you think the problem could be? Also how much would it be to get a cartridge if i need one?

Well, I would start by pulling the turbo, or at least the down pipe to see if the rotating assembly spins freely. If all is good there, check the oiling system, and ensure the pumps pulling vacuum at the turbo oil discharge side.

Yeah, that is normal. My Precision ball bearing did the same thing. Once the COMP turbo is broken in, it spools fast/hard. Mechanical efficiency is extremely high with these units.

So I took off the down pipe... Filled with oil. I look at the lower input on the inter-cooler and it has oil dripping from each joint. The turbo looks full of oil but it does spin, no shaft play. So what do you guys think should be the next step? Here are some pics for reference.

Same exact thing that I just went through. Turn on accesory power and see if the exapump is running. Mine had the wires jacked up during install or uninstall of the engine. Also afterwards oil was in the exhaust to the point that I had to dunk it in gas because trying to burn it out by driving was like a smoke generator on a tank.

Well i did not get anything out of the pump so I pulled it. I got the relay too. Here are some pictures. Looks like the inter-cooler stopped the oil from going in the engine. Next week I am going to drop the turbo and drop the rest of the exhaust. I can then find someone to clean it out.

1. Is cleaning the inter-cooler a good idea, and how should it be done?

2. Were can I get a new oil pump, or should I have mine rebuilt?

If the exa is bad get a new one but first try to runbit on 12v. If it's still busted replace it. Sasha can probably source you one or do like I did and amazon prime that bastard. You can easily clean the intercooler and exhaust by yourself. You need a couple gallons of gas and a bucket. Degreaser didn't work worth a crap. I said it's easy but it's a pain in the ***. Or.....you can just smokebomb till it burns off. Been there, good luck.

I am making good progress. I need to just get one bolt off the turbo.... but it is the hardest one. Does anyone have advice on how to get the top right one; when looking from the passenger side? I have some pictures of my progress and the last bolt i'm working on. I'm just doing it a few hours on a weekend day. I figured it would make it easier and not as stressful. Also does anyone have a link to the pdf download for the install guide? I will need to to put it back together. I'm bagging and tagging but will need the guide.

I'll PM you the install manual link.

As for the top bolt, pull the oil reservoir off the turbo, and use a wrench from the transmission side.

Hey guys,

Was back at it again. After i got the pump off i took the bottom plate off to see what happened. I see no shear pin? in one of the gears; and if im correct that is what attach's the gears to the pump!! is there anyway to just get the pump rebuilt? it seems if you replace the shear pin it should work. Any ideas or info?

Same thing I saw I just bought a new pump after I saw they won't warranty or replace if you open it up.
