You have a lot to learn. No one make a plug n play besides motec, vitviper developed the kit. Just as spooler states above.

yeah basically replacing or rewiring all the OEM controls and displays (gauges) is a given unless you want to repeat what vitviper did and reverse engineer the entire car CAN bus. which is definitely possible, you can program motec to accept any can spec you want IIRC. High performance academy has a course on can bus that includes reverse engineering if you want to stop waiting for someone else to do it for you guys It's on my list to take.

Aside from that:

You can do cruise control via can keypad (aftermarket ecu controlled). you could also rewire the steering wheel controls to a can transmitter (similar to whats used in can keypads)

I was thinking about the possibility of taking https://www.demon-tweeks.com/no/summ...system-663360/

and wiring the outputs to the the same can transmitter to talk to ECU.

the Motec c1212 is a really nice looking dash I would probably use to replace the OEM one. because reverse engineering all the CAN for the oem system is honestly too much work.

other things related. a bosch motorsport ABS unit is definitely the way to go, it will output CAN codes you can read in the ECU to do traction control (wheel speed)
also you can disable it via CAN keypad if you want an ABS button.

you can see a lot of that coming together via motec here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CT6muKlipU

definitely way easier to rewire the whole car tho than to integrate with oem can. but i've never reverse engineered a CAN before so I don't actually know how long it will take.

Quote:
It is not a plug and play system like Motec. You don't need another dash display and you lose functionality of the OEM dash. I thought Haltec was looking at doing a plug and play for the Z. Their dash display does plug and play with the Z.
It would be great if they would do it but I don't there is enough demand to justify the cost. If I do end up taking mine out in favour of the c1212 I guess I could probably give it a try but at that point there's not much incentive for me to do it, seeing as I'd have replaced my dash already /shrug

lol

this is also pretty interesting if anyone has any C++ knowledge. Though I'm sure there are can bus interfaces for most languages. I know there is a nodejs one.

Another EDIT:

VVEL control kb article is here for anyone interested

https://support.haltech.com/portal/e...lve-lift-elite

when i got my email back from haltech they said

Quote:
We support the 370Z CAN protocol and that has the VVEL control built into it.
I'm not sure if they meant they support the whole CAN protocol or just VVEL, so I've shot them an email to clarify.

The stock ecu is pretty good for what most people will ever use it for.

yes that is very true. Though we have a couple people here that are intent on being on the "cutting edge" of what's possible with the VQ platform. and IMHO, a custom harness and ecu is what that looks like.

Save you the trouble on waiting for the email.

Just like you and 98% of the community are content with the stock Ecu. Reason why the VHR and the tuning is so far behind. At the end of the day if you’re just into street driving and mall crawling then yes motorsport grade electronics aren’t for you. For the few us who either want big power with reliability, and traction or who actually want to compete in races or time trails with very little street use, we want change. I’ll spend the money on it.

LMAO, there is nothing cutting edge about Motec or a Mil-Spec harness. There are a number of people that run Motec and other stand alone ECUs. If you want talk about use the best technology or tool for achieving the extreme goals that some of us have then that is a different story. The journey we are on is getting what is already available for most platforms but may not be available for the Z or the cost to convert or use is extravagant. We are playing catch up with the Z, nothing more.

ok thanks for confirming what I said above guys!

Looks like it's perfectly doable even with oem gauges/sensors. Y'all just want someone to do the wiring work for you so it's easy to plug and play. Good luck!

For someone that is just getting into the game with the Z platform your ignorance and smugness will get you nothing. Why shouldn't we want the same as for other platforms and I take it that know just how easy it is to do a Mil-Spec harness. GTFO!

Yes it is unknown but a dang good guess. GTR's have to go to aluminum rods at 1300whp due to rod bearing wear. We will be in the same range. Just like GTR guys break lots of cranks too. Everything I have read has pointed me to the direction I have stated. My statements were not based off of the DE. It is due to all the research I have done over the last couple of years.

Count me in as well as one of the other's that shouldn't have to worry about headlift anymore hopefully.

GTR’s have smaller bearings then the VHR I believe. But yes damn good guess I agree.

not yet, just finally got them ordered. Couldn't find anyone that would actually CALL weld to put the order through. They kept just going to the website and claiming the size I needed didn't exist. Got in touch with Weld myself and they confirmed they could. Hoping mid april!!
