Damn... This is crazy. Any possibility a vac hose popped off the tranny somewhere? (I don't know what the AT runs off of on this car.)

That is just weird that the trans just out of nowhere started acting up as such low RPMs. Im curious, as are you I'm sure, what Level ten says happened to it. But if that noise was coming from the trans it was either that or the flex plate. My flex plate on really hot occasions makes a little chatter here and there but nothing like you described.

The last time we ran it we both said something sounded strange at the end of the pull. I'm thinking whatever happened happened then. I have a FI flex plate that is heavy duty so I don't think that is it.

Yeah I have the same flex plate and it chatters. But absolutely doesn't do what you described.
