That looks like a lot of field of view will be blocked with it mounted below the mirror.

Doesn't bother me at all.

As for the sunshield, my car's garaged and I never end up using em anyways due to lazyness. My 2 cents. :S

I honestly thought that would be a problem for me too as I've really had my Detectors tucked away on previous cars and don't like stuff hanging on the windshield.. Surprisingly it does not bother me at all, nor block much when cranking through the twisties.. They do make an adjustable model which would allow you to tuck the detector up closer to the mirror..
