The OP is confused. He owns a monterrey blue car and is wondering why the lights do not match the car identically. That is the information in his head that he could not get out.

In all seriousness the problem is not with the bulbs its with your expectations. They are only supposed to have some blue in the visible spectrum, just as you move up in degrees the blue starts turning violet. At 12K you will not have violet light emmitting from your headlights just as you do not have overpowering blue now. Simply there will be a hint of it in the visible spectrum. The light output you see on the road will go from being a warmer (yellowish/orange) to a cooler (blueish/violet) in relation to the Kelvin rating. The sweet spot being around 5K where it will be closest to pure white output. If you do not like JW's color in 10K move to 12K as others have suggested. Or you may want to try some Ebay specials in 10K-12K. They may more closely resemble the BLUE,in all its glory, you want it to be.

Again as others have mentioned the ones you have look pretty fvcking blue to me. It is your expectations that need to fall in line.
Smashley likes this.

Wrong again, I'm not trying to match my car. Im just trying to get a blue light going, but the 10k I have don't seem as blue as all what I've seen. I don't care about 5k that's why I went to 6 then 8 and now 10 I'm not going for maximum light output, just the color alone

That was a joke about matching your car. But my statement of your expectations holds true. I know you dont want 5K you want a "BLUE" light. If you look at 5K side by side to what you have now in 10K and if you even move to 12K it is a dramatic difference. Your output is blue right now. If you want just blue light you will just need to go ahead and buy blue bulbs. That is the only way to achieve what you are asking.

Get 15k, bítch will be blue

The other thing, other 10000ks might seem more blue because the bulbs are old, or the ballast can't properly turn the bulb on.

On my last car, '09 Maxima, I bought 4300k, they were as blue as 15k JUST because the Maxima couldn't drive them. They were 4300k in other cars

If you want blue, squeeze in a high powered blue LED inside the projector in an attempt to blend in more blue color in your headlights.

Are your friends cars running aftermarket hids? If so they probably have the 55w kits and with those the color seems to pop alot more...also they are way brighter then the hids on our z's. I put a few 55w kits on family/friends cars as well as my old car....big difference from what comes stock on the z.....color and brightness. I have the 8k bulbs from jw motoring as well....i noticed the difference from the stock to those....but i only wanted a blue tint which is exactly what i got. I think the only way to get that blue youre looking for is to swap out hid kits to 55w and probably 10-12k bulbs.

this thread was 4 months old when someone posted yesterday.....

basics are the higher you go 10000k 12000k ect, the more color they have but the less light output they have. it doesnt matter what wattage you have theyre still going to have way less light output than a 6000k. 4300k's put out the most light with the least about of color. 6000k's are pretty much the general standard, you get a nice blueish tint and you dont loose much usable light on the ground. 8000k is also fairly common but you continue to loose light

go to the link triple posted on page 1, it gives you plenty of info on HIDs

Let's settle this once and for all.

For all intents and purposes OP's pictures look almost identical to the myriad of images on google's image search with the qeuery "10000k hid" with some variance for improper white balance and different exposure times affecting color and brightness.

https://www.google.com/search?q=1000...ed=0CAcQ_AUoAQ

I still think that the difference in color output is likely in OP's head but if he's like to come back with a side by side comparison between his car and his friends' cars then perhaps we can extrapolate more information. Otherwise this thread should have run its course long ago....
