Drivers side rubber seal ripped... fix?

My Z is at the dealer right now getting some warrenty work done( fuel gauge not showing full) so I mentioned about the tear in the seal. I was told

I was told they will replace it at no charge! They say they can't explain how it happened but they'll take care of it.
