I was talking to a customer last week and he said that the Canadian Plastidip is different than the american stuff. Not sure if this is true or not, he said he even tried to order some up from the US but it got turned around at the boarder.

Anyone every hear of this before?

PlastiDip is a hazardous chemical so I could certainly believe it. The wonderful state of California will not allow full gallons of PlastiDip to be shipped to their residents.

That will be awesome!

In for results.

Thanks to this mid March snowfall today, the Z project must be put on hold. I do not have garage space right now, so yeah....I'm a little pissed.

That looks really good! Did u have to sand the surface prior to spraying?

Yes. Search is your friend. IIRC, no need to remove bumper cover, they just used some paper to keep overspray off the radiator.

I did mine. Just put newspaper or what ever you find to cover the sides for over spray.

Did you screw your spoiler down? Or just use the 3m tape?

I don't get your question? If what your asking me is how I installed the rear wing the answer would be I did not. That is the wing that comes with the sports package. And I believe it uses 3m tape because I can't see any screws over the top.

I didn't realize you had a sport package. Those are installed with 2 screws and 3M tape..

I have a base and just put mine on & dipped it black. My bad!

That thing is bad to the bone.

Do the handles and the side turn markers next!

You can even put a thin layer over your tails and side markers on the headlights. (Check my build for pics)

ALL Yellow & Black. :)

Looks great duff! The blue from the curb is throwing off the color a bit, but it look like it turned out real smooth and exactly what you wanted. I anticipated a little more gloss however--

Now you need to get your hands on some wheel spacers and maybe some springs!

DufDaddy 03-31-2013 04:59 PM

Thanks Nick, it probably isn't helping that it is a dreary, rainy day....no sunshine to make it sparkle

LOL- Did you wash the wheels before you sprayed them?

Sometimes if you wash them, water gets into the lug holes and then gets trapped under the dip.

I always have to wipe the wheels off with a towel first and make sure they are 100% dry.

Looks like there was some cleaning solution or water that got trapped under.

A way to fix this is get a small needle or thumbtack & pop the hole. Then do a respray over that spot. Pretty easy!

bdavis89 04-30-2013 12:36 PM

Nice Vid. I did mine this past weekend and am really pleased with the look. I'll be doing my wheels in a few weeks. I really like the blacked out emblems, but now my wheels are screaming to be matched.

Oh yes probably it wasn't dry enough :/ but luckily it was only one wheel and I will try to do that quick fix..hopefully it won't look weird and still match the rest of the wheel. I love the new look thou :)

I went to the track and ran many sessions and the plasti dip didn't come off the rims. I was surprised. I just saw on their web page that plasti dip is proven to hold up to 310 Farenheith or something like that. Anyways if someone is wondering. It will hold up at the track.

Thanks for those pics Kristina. I have been thinking about doing the same to my 2011 just have not had time to do it yet. Not 100% sure I will like it on my car but its plastidip so can remove it quickly.
