You can only really do that on a nismo though..

She could add some glossifier to make it look a little cleaner!

Are you going to be doing the mirrors too besides the top of the spolier? I know that the 2014 has that area a different color as well. I'm interested in seeing how this all turns out because I have the same exact 2013 GM Nismo and was considering doing this to all the areas that are a different color like the 2014 for a different look. Originally I was even considering wrapping those areas but before I spent all that money I was looking to plasti dip them first.

Also on the wheels where it says NISMO, I want to plasti dip the NISM in black and the O in red. It could look nice against our wheels. Otherwise I'll just remove it if it doesn't.

Once you complete your Nismo please post some more photos. I would love to see the final results. Great job!

Looks like black to me

Definitely the original BLACK plastidip. No specific color.
Wheels look like a gunmetal or their anthracite color that they just launched, however I think its just the glare of the sunlight
I don't see many red ones on the road, but I have seen them in my area.

robtrink 07-29-2013 08:28 AM

For those who have done the rims, how have they held up so far?

If you do enough coats PROPERLY, and stay away from Tire Shine and other greasy products, then you'll be fine. I have redone my wheels multiple times so I haven't had plasti-dip on for longer then 6 months. But either way, 6 months for $5 is unbeatable.

Yea I was looking for a pic of the new anthracite color on the sport rays and that looked close but maybe alittle dark.

Did you cover the key hole with anything or just sprayed inside it as well?

Just spray all over it. Then you can always take off the inside part

Won a free wheel dip kit from dipyourcar and I picked their new
Anthracite Gray.

Did 4 coats of the gray and then 2 coats of Glossifier. Also did the handles while I was at it.

Nice! ^^ I like the anthracite a lot! Want to do my whole car in it. Maybe a couple coats of gloss too.

Did you put your car on jackstands and remove the wheels to dip them? It looks like your cars springs haven't settled in the pic or your tires are stretched. Wheel gap looks huge for some reason. & you have the 19's

The wheels look awesome. Reminds me a bit of the 40th. Nice job!

A little plasti dip project last night on the side markers. Used to be all black, but decided to make the "Z" white. Turned out nicely!

I used the same color and glossifier for my door handles. I think they look better than black door handles.

Thank you sir, and yes I really like the color as well. And no I didn't remove the wheels, I think it's just the angle I took the picture at. The car is sitting on an uneven plane so that might be a factor as well.

Thank you very much! And Yeah, I see a little 40th in it. In the sunlight it looks a whole lot different from the 40th, though.

I agree, it has a metallic finish to it but still gives that aggressive edge.

steve216 08-21-2013 12:54 AM

Always enjoyed using plastidip. I done all the chrome and wheels on my last car. For my Z I just blacked out the fangs.

zilverbullet 08-29-2013 04:45 PM

Yea I will do it when I get back home. I'd say its a similar color to the oem gtr wheels and it meshes well against the brilliant silver.

Do you have any close ups? It's a bit hard to make it out from a distance. I think I'll try it but I'm debating between a few colors right now.

Finally got a chance to use the anthracite grey on my handles after seeing a couple pictures and it came out great. Also sprayed a few coats of glossifier. The glossifier made a huge difference on the emblems that I had dipped.

DufDaddy 09-21-2013 06:33 PM

It's been awhile since I've checked in, here my latest project: Blue Silk Pearl. I mixed the Pearlizer with some blue pigments to get this sweet color. Wheels are anthracite.

Did the same thing, but need to redo them.

Any advice on how to remove poorly placed plastidip? Thanks!

Trying to remove it but it was so thin that it is hard to get rid of it. Here is the pic.

Or WALMART and buy a few bottles of Goo Gone. Throw the bottles in a spray bottle and let it soak for around 5 minutes. Make sure you have TONs of paper towels or rags.

Plasti-dip is only awesome if people knew how to put it on correctly. If you are just going to lay on 2-3 layers, you shouldn't be using it.

Bought a used lip where a noobie only put in maybe 2 layers and it was a pita to get off. Use it right, put on atleast 5-7 layers. It's easier to get off and it's the correct way to do it.
