With the belt looped around the object you wan to loosen, pull it tight around it then shove whatever stick or leverage object in the position above. You then what to keep the "loose end" held tight with the leverage bar. Apply pressure to the bar upwards. When you apply the pressure upwards, you will automatically tighten the loop and somewhat spin the object. Try it around your arm or something first to get the concept down. In essence, the belt looped around object will grip and tighten as you apply force to the leverage bar. The fulcrum will be the object to loosen (or tighten) and the bar itself.

Awesome. I'm gonna give it a shot. Anybody know if it is bad to directly hold the shaft with vice grips? Any damage to the shaft or just cosmetic damage?

honestly i would probably break that little wooden handle or drum stick you guys show with that 'belt trick.'

i thought my car was going to turn with my wrench when i finally decided to use the oil filter wrench on the stock knob. thats how tight it was.

I used that drum stick only as a reference. It was the only thing I saw at the moment. I would probably used 1/2 of my jack pipe or a beefier piece of wood.

That is what I heard. Colour is different, so I am not sure how well it matches with the Z interior.
