Humm ture. You might break the fang cover. But sanding down the center lip will be hard too. You might need to cut the fang while it is on the car.

im planning on using a dremel with metal cutter bit to trim parallel along the top portion of the center CF bit... would that be impossible to do?

As long as you have nerves of steel cutting that close to the bumper itself, then you should be able to. One slip and it is game over for the OEM bumper though!
