I greased everything up. The insert was really tight, but the bushing had a decent amount of play. It’s too early to tell, but I drove for about 10 miles and did things that would normally cause the rattle, and it’s quiet so far. :ugh2:

Just ordered a carbon fiber shifter surround cover for the coolerworx.

I like it; but won't your hairties fall through the slot? I'd def buy it if it had a much smaller boot covering the gap.

I'm going to take it to my local auto upholstery shop and see if they can fabricate a short (maybe a couple inches high) boot to cover the opening. Maybe make the part around the shifter shaft elastic so it won't slide down

Thrashed on the car all weekend with no rattle. Before, it was worst when punching revs north of 6K or tooling along in 3rd or 4th gear. Now it’s quiet except for some transmission noise in the high revs which I would consider normal for this shifter, given how it’s mounted.

Should also add that the m-tec shifter springs made a noticeable improvement in feel. Because the lever is so long it always felt sloppy with a heavy shift knob, but now it’s nice and tight, even with a 500g Raceseng.

Do you feel comfortable enough that I can get back to coolerworx and tell them it cured the issue?

I’m convinced it’s fixed in my case.

I'll let coolerworx know. We'll see what they come up with.

Curious about the shifter springs. I have a raceseng knob I was intending to use with this shifter too.

Can you clarify which part you had to grease?

I bought this shifter last year but ended up selling it since the rattle was driving me crazy while I was DD'ing my Z. Currently running a Torque Solutions short shifter with an extension and overall feels like crap compared to how the Coolerworx felt.

Thinking back, I recall greasing the bolt to connect the shifter to the linkage but maybe the rattling could be caused by the lateral play from the insert hitting the linkage when installed? Forgot now snug the insert was.

I will buy this damn thing for a second time if someone found a solution for the rattling :rofl2:

Look at post #137. Also, Coolerworx contacted me this morning and they will be redesigning the insert and let me know when they're available.
