Yep, I saw that photo. I just didn't think that greasing the insert would have such a heavy impact since it's such a tight fit. Wasn't sure if it was just the whole insert being greased, or just the portion of the pin that inserts into the shaft. Can't remember if my pin had an o-ring or not but that could've been it.

Glad to hear that they'll be re-designing the insert but I'm not sure when v.3 would be available in the market. Definitely keep us updated!

So I ended up ordering my shifter a couple of days ago. Here's to hoping I get sent a revised version with the fixed part.

By "available" i assume they mean "we'll ship this out to you for free" ?

This damn thing was not cheap and I'd sooner sell it to JAR than pay for a fix they should have thought up in the first place.

Also, mad reps for running point on this.

Is it finally fixed!?! Can I buy one now and not fear I blew 600 bucks on a rattling pos!? Yay!

Took the Z out for a spin after a good grease job, had no rattling. Dodnt go past 3500 rpm tho as it's icy af out, I'm running summer tires, and the clutch is precisely 1.1 miles old.

I'll let Jar know when coolerworx contacts me about the new inserts. I'll ship one directly to him so he'll have it when you send him your shifter.

I was under the car doing the diff bushings/cover/brace so figured I'd do this as well. I ended up using a spare o-ring I had leftover after swapping my injectors (took a bit of persuasion but hey....) and a bunch of grease, but the rattling 'seems' to have disappeared. So we'll see...

Heads up though: for anyone expecting Coolerworx to replace this free of charge, good luck... I'll leave it at that.

Yea lol. Coolerworx website is garbage and same with customer service 90% of the time. I'd say if you don't order a whole new shifter you'll have to get an O-ring yourself and fix it lol, which is probably the easiest way anyways.

370Tyler 01-07-2021 12:45 PM

Just ordered mine through SOHO. Hopefully when I get it I don’t hate it!:yum:

370Tyler 03-30-2021 11:46 AM

not fixed lol.
but I got the o ring with mine and its all lubed up. it seems like the reverse lockout collar is vibrating in 3rd and 4th and sometimes 2nd. anyone have this?

NorthStyle 03-30-2021 02:07 PM

After installing the o-ring and greasing the insert, I haven't had any noises. Before, it would rattle in 3rd, never noticed in 2nd or 4th.

Any updates on whether revised inserts were put into production for the Coolerworx shifters or any reviews if it solved the issue?

Nope. Here's the correspondence I had with Coolerworx. I don't think they give a crap about fixing the issue.

Thanks for sharing that man, sucks that they didn't bother to fix it basically a whole year later . Any recommendations for the type of grease that would work to remedy this issue?
