Saw this youtube video and love the look... feels a little incomplete unless you can find 1-2 more places to add without making it look like a rice job from 1998. What do you guys think? I may order some of this stuff ($10 worth will get you as far as the guy in the video went)

Any ideas where else you might use this?

(This guy also has a pretty nice iPad install)

...I just want the iPad install. The lighting is nice though, reminds me of the newer GTIs.

Agreed... Still had to run it through a head unit but he relocated the HU to the glove box to fit the full sized tablet. Pretty genius.

I like the execution, and down the road it's not too hard to undo it.

Pretty cool channel. Peeping some other vids. Condensed versions of how-to's but the editing is awesome.

Looks nice and simple enough to try. I agree not overdoing it would seem to be key. Shelf behind seats may work and add a little glow but not not in you face.

Looks good to me, but would just look odd if on the door panels alone. Anyway to extend one clean line along the dash somehow?

I've seen that EL lighting a few times in pics and videos, but I would want the "wire" to be near unnoticeable when they're off. I wouldn't want that bright red stripe showing during the day.

This is an excellent point I had not really considered.

Yeah, as you can tell, I like being somewhat subtle with my Z. I don't want anything on it or in it to stand out boldly.

I bought the wire and have yet to do the install. His ipad dash video illuminated to me that he didn't really know what was being done, that his buddy was doing it. I would be very interested to see the entire build of the Ipad setup from his buddies perspective, because the final install is very clean.

Just a matter of tighter tucking to get the glow instead. One thing about EL wire though, it is very muted and best works in low light situations. The material is colored as an optical enhancement since it is such a low lumen output. However, a good tuck job should let a very minor amount of the edge still show, and get a good glow still.

With PC builds, I have worked with LED and EL configurations extensively. pretty easy to do, just take your time and a bit of common sense (maybe a bit of maths lol). Hit me up if you want to try it ChopZ

I follow his channel and ordered the strips as soon as I saw the video posted! The strips are not very noticeable when off. Mine seem to disappear mostly.
