Hey,hate to be a "wet blanket" on this conversation...
But,function or looks,WHAT will hood vents do to the actual performance of your Z? I mean, get in,start it up,take off. Gobs of power felt? I think not. On the track in conjunction with other parts at high RPMS. Maybe so. The whole idea sounds like a marketing ploy from the aftermarket guys. Hey,they got bills to pay, right? For us everyday drivers---a deduct from the bank account. |

You are showing much ignorance on this topic. These hood vents are being developed for those of us that want to remove heat from our engine bays do to how we drive our cars and or the force induction system we have installed. Yes some will add the vent because they look cool more power to them. If you want to maintain yours cars performance the track, heat is not your friend on any high performance engine so the primary reason for hood vents is to get the heat out of the engine bay so that the engine can work efficiently. Getting the hot air out is not the end all as in doing so it should not impact the performance of the cars aerodynamics. If fact the air flow should be used to create additional down force and therefore aiding in the overall performance of the car. Now that you have been edge-mi-cated to the basics, you are oblige to ![]()

I thank you. From a long time forum member with our Z back to the 240, I have noted many evolutions. First, could be that the current majority of Z34 members track their cars. This is not the norm. However,it would be great if we have a selective membership that does. I applaud you. My apologies as from my experience, most members are everyday guys that drive their cars to&from work etc. Focusing on the hood vent project to be specific, lets say-6 months from now, are these vents being produced and bought by Z34 owners? Report back to me. All the best |

Hey Bobster. Did some digging. In one post, he says he is 72 yrs old. He likes fake carbon fiber. Doesn't like any mods that will improve the Z. Says the aero only works above 90 mph.

As you have appointed yourself as the leader of the "top fanatics",be sure to post in detail the success of getting these hood vents actually produced by a reputable company. Hey,I can relate to your passion for getting a project with a PERSONAL interest done. Have done this a few times myself: Cannot get it made, found a way to do it myself. Can be a costly option my friend when you cannot get at least the minimum order needed. Also, think about the company making the pieces will be around long enough to guarantee the product. Best of luck to you and all that will join in the effort. I've been there, done that. You learn from experience. Its only money and a feature on the car that may not add value at a possible resale. Give this some thought. |

![]() And as someone that has over 75K miles of daily driving in the Texas heat in a Z34, I can assure you the OEM cooling is far from adequate. Vents in the hood would be one of several ways to address that issue. Admittedly there are other mods, such as an oil cooler, that make sense to do first. But it's quite clear that these products are intended to serve those who are searching for any and all ways to increase cooling beyond the standard methods. If you don't fall into that category and don't have anything relevant to add, maybe you should just keep your hands off the keyboard. I can assure you Bob is not looking into this development to profit or sell unnecessary mods to ignorant plebeians. This is a hardcore Z guy wanting to advance the platform ![]()

My 370z was my daily driver for 2 years when I got my vented hood. I noticed a difference immediately. You don't have to have a super built car to see the advantages of this upgrade. My car suffered from heat soak and adding a vented hood to my list of mods was never solely about aesthetics. I live in California where we have canyons and mountain roads within an hour of me in almost every direction from my home and the temperatures in the spring, summer and fall can be pretty brutal. It's bad enough that without an oil cooler that I could get my oil temps up to 240-250 with an easy romp on the freeway. Don't even get me started on what happens in the canyons or on the race track. My advice? Stop wasting your time here arguing with people about a product you'll never use, if you don't need it, care for it or can't afford it...guess what? There's the door -> ![]()
