Another Sticky Dash Issue

So you applied the cleaning product the second time and then finally applied the coating? And you're saying the coating application was difficult to apply without splotches?

I am very interested to know if the splotchiness goes away or remains there more than a few days. And of course, in for the longer term results as well

Yes, applied cleaner twice. The instructions are pretty clear and point out that the coating should be applied shortly after the cleaner or have to start over. Thinking about it now it probably would have turned out better (less splotchy) if I hadn't applied it sparingly. I was afraid if I ran out then I'd be SOL.

Anyways, definitely not a UV issue in my case since the car has been garaged for 10 years with only 50k miles. I bought a few of these to soak up the humidity in the car, unfortunately too late:

just curious how your dash is holding up?

That stuff didn't make any difference, I just bought a cover for the dash which turned out less ugly than I thought. I took a peek under the cover a few days ago and it's completely covered in gray dust.

I'm turned off on Nissan over this, they should have taken ownership of the problem. Won't be buying another Nissan anytime soon.

is the gray dust from the dash cover or the actual dash?

I just read this whole thread. I was ready to buy the stickydashfix.com product and then I got to this post.

I called the dealer (they said they've never heard of this issue), then I called Nissan (told me there was nothing they could do, I asked if my complaint could be recorded, she asked for my name and then hung up on me).

My Z only has 35,000 miles on it and is in perfect condition. I noticed the shiny dash a couple days ago when I took it for a spin. There's so much glare on the windshield it's hard to see. I'm not a fan of the dash mat look. So I guess I'm just screwed.

Same boat here, same boat. That glare is no joke, literally dangerous actually. Hot sun can get the dash so shiny that the image on the windshield really distorts your forward vision.

If driving under afternoon sun, even if it's just 80F outside, gotta run the A/C to keep the glare at an "acceptable" level.

Good tip, I'll try this. I'm assuming run the a/c through the defroster vents?
