Do I Have Seat Creep?...

I would say for best scientific method, rip the tape in two (one side on the moving side another side of the stationary side), draw a line through both pieces.

I don't have seat creep...but I do have seat drop. This phenomena is when you adjust you seat to its highest level and still your too low and those two elephant ear side view mirrors essentially block everything at the front from the left and right side angles....

You can raise the seat. There is a thread or a DIY somewhere.

I still don't think it's the drive slipping. My guess is that something is activating the motor every now and then. A friend's dog will push console/armrest buttons every now and then.

I agree. My best idea at the moment is that the switch is faulty. I'm no electrician - can a faulty switch activate itself from time to time?

That is one possibility. Could also be bad wiring, faulty module, and probably several other things.

Since you don't know a lot about electricity, I'd suggest downloading the FSM and showing the wiring diagrams to an electrically-minded friend.

Possible there is an ever so slight surge when you turn it on that is the cause? I still say unplug the seat harness and see if it continues to 'creep'. If not then you've narrowed the scope of your investigation. If it does then it points the opposite way. At least you are no longer battling the chaos of unlimited possibilities that way.

I think ChaseZ's idear here is the best way to isolate whether it's an electronic surge type of problem or if it's a mechanical issue where the bracket/brace isn't holding the seat in position.

It's definitely not a mechanical issue. The seat fitment is as solid as a rock. It's definitely electrical.

It's booked in for investigation at my local dealership.

Update.

It's moved again. Here's today's photo...

Now that I've seen it twice, with photographic evidence, I'll be getting in touch with the dealer - the car's still under Nissan warranty.

I will say get a camera to record all the time just to see no one is playing a joke on you.

Also when you get to the seat how you like it try move it by hand without using any levers. Just to see that it clicks and stop as you like it.

I had a very old car that the seat bracket was not holding the seat very well and if I was parking on a hill or something like that it will move.

I hope you will find it soon man!

LOve my touring seats. They are not moving. Are you parked on top of an old cemetery? Jealous ghost wants to drive your Z!
