Default No start, steering lock removed

Before I get publicly castrated for not reading the buried threads on the subject, I have read them all. My car had the dreaded steering lock issue while I was at a gas station. It stopped and the wheel was unlocked completely. I attempted the remedies and tried to get it into acc. No lock and the car continues to say "no key". Fob battery changed, waiting to jump the battery for an additional check in the box. Any clues on what the h*** is wrong would be greatly appreciated.

I have a hard time believing that you read all the ESCL posts (see link in my sig) but maybe you did. In any case, trying striking the ESCL with your fist, rubber mallet, or similar, while trying to start the car. If that doesn't work, it's time for a tow to the dealer (edit: or make some mods to the ESCL; at least one DIY on this site).

I retract my previous statement. "All" was a bit of an exaggeration. I have however spent the last few days reading 20+ which I assumed to be all because I was getting repeats. My lock solenoid completely failed and my key light is on. What I gather so far is that there is zero way to start my car. I have the box out fully and would like to know since the case of mine says "E" if it's truly affected or if I have some other crazy nonsense occurring. When the vehicle shut off for its last time, the wheel spins and turns the tires which leads me to believe that the steering lock is the culprit. Do I need to replace this now in order to get it to start again or am I f'd fully?

The threads are also littered with 09-10's and a-d models. Mine is a 2011 with a model E. If that helps clarify my confusion

All versions of the ESCL are prone to failure. The ESCL must be plugged in but does not have to be in place. I forget the exact symptoms of ESCL failure but you can find them using the link in my sig.

If your symptoms match, I suggest re-installing the ESCL and beating it like it owes you money while trying to start the car. If you manage to get the car started, remove the ESCL fuse before you turn the car off (it helps to have the IPDM already pulled).

Spec out the parts to build just a few of the units. The connectors have to be bought in large lots. It's a niche market, Etc, etc, etc. It's worth it to some people who don't want to dig out the IPDM-E/R or cut any wiring.
