Default 2015+ Nismo black housing headlights peeling

While washing my Z today, I noticed both of my headlights' black paint seems to be peeling/bubbling. I rarely drive it at night so I don't use the headlights much because I have another car as a daily driver, so this seems odd. I purchased these Nismo blk housing headlights from one of our vendors here and they're Nissan OEM, so I don't know what the deal is. Any members on here with 15+ Nismo or got a set for their Zs, can you check and see if yours are doing the same? Thanks

Hmmmmm... I believe the ones people mod have paint bubble because the sun heats it up too much... Maybe that's what's happening?

Don't think it's the sun because my Z is always garaged, so if anything it would be the heat from the headlights. Regardless, even if it sits in the sun all day everyday it shouldn't bubble, being an OEM part. And I just got them last Fall..

I believe that area gets really hot from the lamp. In modded lamps I've seen it where a small piece of metal is added to keep that area from bubbling. You should return it.

Edit: The metal pc is not on that lamp but on the smaller one. But I still say it has to be the heat from the lamp causing that paint reaction.

Got it from Fred Beans Nissan from the vendors section on here, but they no longer do online orders. Hope that's not a bad sign. Anyways.. E-mailed them with pics and my Paypal invoice, hopefully they stand behind their products. It's obviously a defect, since no other members seem to have the same issues with their OEM headlights.

I painted my headlights myself.. 3+ years later they still are doing great, no issues what so ever.. And I use my headlights all the time. And my car has sat outside in the sun for numerous car shows and meets.. I would either send them back.. Or you can try to repaint them yourself..

It's bubbling due to a magnifying glass effect. Even if it's in the sun just a lil bit that glass headlight is beaming into the black paint. OEM or not I'd get ur money back.

The issue is the light is hitting the lense of the projector and is concentrated and focused on that one spot. The only option is to pull the housing and repaint. Many of us have had modded lights for years with no issues. Again mileage will vary based on the headlight modder and painter.

I wouldn't say it's the only option. These are OEM and should have warranty. Replacement by the vendor is the other option.

This is a big issue in the G37 community as well. A lot of people do not paint that the ribbed part for that reason. I also think it's a magnifying issue from the sun. My head lights did it the day after. Really pissed me off. I really think it could've been prevented if the paint had time to fully cure

I emailed Fred Beans Nissan where I ordered these lights from. Their sales manager responded that they stopped doing online orders since Dec, but he'll see what can be done to cover my purchase. Should be an easy case IMO. Nissan OEM defective within a few months of purchase. Waiting for further info..

So what if they stopped doing on line orders. They were doing it at the time you purchased these. They need to stand by their customers.
