It is if it's "dry carbon".Most aftermarket hoods are a wet layup. The only commercially available light weight CF hoods are the Amuse hood, and the Varis VSDC hood. Both are $$$$$$.

*Keep in mind the factory hood is made from aluminum and relatively light weight to begin with.
