Anyone else experience this with their hoods?

I notice that when I am sitting in the car, the hood would be so hot that you can see the heat come off it.

Is this good or bad? Would it damage the paint or anything mechanical?

I know everything does it when it gets hot. It is just that we have such a crappy paint job. I figured maybe it would be bad for the paint too.

I accidentally touched my headers and burned my skin pretty bad.

Are headers supposed to be that hot?!?!?
