Steering Lock...just went

I recently had the steering lock freeze up on me for the first time and called Nissan corporate and checked with 2 dealers with my vin and mentioned the recall also, but they said my vehicle isn't covered. So not all 370z are covered.
So I banged the crap out of the steering column and pulled the fuse and it has been fine. Wonder if you did the procedure correctly. Anyone else have this issue after pulling the fuses?
