My driver side belt doesn't retract so well any more. It does fine for 90% of the retraction, but the last 10% almost has to be hand fed to take

My driver side belt doesn't retract so well any more. It does fine for 90% of the retraction, but the last 10% almost has to be hand fed to take up the last bit slack. Would this be a problem for the core exchange? I wouldn't want someone else to get mine if the retract ability is tied to the core because I know I wouldn't want to get someone else's core that was in a similar condition.
