Default PPE Long tube headers bad fitment

Has anyone had problems with fitment for the PPE LTH? I have a ‘13 sport z lowered on ark performance springs. I ordered the headers from concept z and the first install the driver header touched the steering column. PPE sent me another driver header and it now touches the ground.

I might have to get another set of headers from another company? I am the second owner of my car no major accidents. Any suggestions?

First time I've heard anyone with issues with PPE.

The only other set of LTH's out there to get is the FI lth's. There is a long wait for them.

PPE historically has had pretty good quality from everything I've seen, but things can change, new people get hired, etc, so who knows.

Hopefully it's not a systemic issue as I'm currently waiting on a set of ppe headers myself...

So here is my experience so far:

Bought the headers from CZP, had a shop install no problem except it touched the steering column slightly. It was enough to be annoying while driving. They redid the driver side, still touching but a little more clearance.

Contacted PPE they made a new driver side header and sent it to me at no cost. Had a Nissan/Datsun (Z Car Garage) shop install it this time, now it hangs too low while fully bolted on and damn near touches the floor.

PPE is telling me to take off the exhaust wrap (this wouldnt even give any clearance so its a dumb response) and to try it again. Otherwise return them for a full refund.

They are pretty much giving up knowing that they engineering some shitty headers and gave it to me.

I will have to pay a shitload of labor at this point and also wait for a new set of headers from a different company? Straight BS, beware if you are getting PPE Headers.

Why would they fit different on my Z? Makes no sense.

Regardless my shop is going to macguyver some **** together to make them work, might have to air hammer the body to get more clearance from the ground, not happy about it but also not going to pay thousands to get the right fitment.

WATCH OUT FOR PPE.

Man that's really strange. Everyone seems to love them. Is your car slammed or something? I've watched people install PPE headers on youtube without either issue. Was planning to get them myself.
I would assume they are made on a jig too. Shouldn't be much variation between headers that way no?

If Rob (Z Car Garage) can't get them to fit right then you know it's a header issue

Did you order them and take them in for the install to Rob? I know it doesn’t help now but Rob usually recommends purchasing the parts through him so if issues like this arise he can deal with the company directly and handle it for you.

This is pretty shocking since I haven't heard of a single issue with PPE here or across other platforms (Lexus). Maybe it's an unfortunate new trend.

You can probably go with Fast intentions and have them install it themselves, they're in socal and good people. You can get a tune down the road at Specialty Z as well

Would have been nice to compare both if you had the chance.
Weird that one would now sit lower VS the other.

The only thing I can think of is aftermarket mounts too high/low or a collapsed mount.

Mine did the same thing too for RHD but it was only kissing the steering knuckle when turning left with 70% throttle. I found that I had weak engine mounts so I bought the adjustable z1 engine mounts and shifted the engine to the left and raised it problem fix.

Just a little update with my experiences with the ppe headers after installation:

Fitment is about a 9/10. No issues with steering shaft and sits fine height wise underneath the car. I deduct 1 point simply due to the drivers side is about a quarter inch higher than the passengers side and is awfully close to the OEM cat converter heat shield. I'll have to either try and bend it a bit out of the way to prevent rattling/vibrations or just remove that side all together. Not that concerned either way though.

Quality is 8/10. My minor grudge is when looking into the pipe you can see some slight bleed through of the welds on the inside, someone could've and should've taken the extra 10 minutes with a dremel and smoothed out the inside of the piping, it's not bad but for the $2,200 that they cost it should've been done.

I installed the PPE long tube headers on my 2020 370z this weekend. What a tight corksoaker on the driver side. Tonight I noticed my starter wire is making contact with a runner and the plastic around it has melted. Did I miss something I was suppose to do on the install?
