Are they fixing the flooded car? Or just stealing the engine from it? More background info?
My guess is, it's detonation (specially since damage seems to be present on the exhaust side only). Water damage would have probably bent a rod and/or damaged the piston. Is there only one cylinder that shows signs of damage like this one? I'm concerned about the edges of the combustion chamber and how small that gap is between the chamber and the water jacket. It's salvageable, but he would need to get it TIG welded and machined. Personally, I'd just buy a new head (or a long block depending on the rest of the engine). |
