Engines and parts are made by people and machines, neither of which are perfect. Everyone interprets break in differently. There are a ton of variables. The world is not a perfect place. Some engines are not truly broken in til they are north of 5000 miles. If everyone revisited this a year or 2 after purchase it would most likely be a non-issue.
