All I can add to this thread is that I've been using M1 0W-40 in my last two performance cars (an 02 Viper GTS, and an 07 Z06), and I never had an issue with oil usage. I changed over to the M1 0W-40 in my Z last oil change, and so far, I'm haven't noticed any change in usage. My suggestion would be to give it another change or two before you move on to another oil. The way 99% of us use our cars, any good quality oil will work just fine. M1 is certainly as good as most other synthetics, and better than many.

Sorry, I didn't notice the year of your car, but if it's older, and has a decent amount of miles, a bit of oil usage would be normal...
