Default Can someone help tell me which Oil Cooler kit/size this is?

So, lucky me I discovered that I purchased my car with an already installed Oil Cooler. Now I'm just trying to find out which oil cooler kit it actually is(Row size??), AND am I suppose to do anything special like add more oil then normal?

I took my bumper off and wasn't able to find any serial #'s on the actual core.

Here's a few photos that I took of the Setrab Core. ANY help with this would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Looks like a 34 row oil cooler. Typically you need extra liter of oil from regular number of liters as specified. Lucky you indeed!

Didn't you buy the one that was the tested on Motorweek? Wonder if Nissan had that installed prior to the test to avoid limp mode. Nice pleasant surprise either way

well if it was a test car than it probably has upgraded brakes, oh and don't forget that your oil cooler may void your warranty even if nissan put it on there because it would have gotten bad press otherwise :corporatefail:

100% disagree

I highly doubt both of those statements.
It anything, it has Nismo pads, and you gotta have a really random dealer/tech at corporate who goes, "hmmmmm, oil cooler, VOID THE WARRANTY!" After all the Nismo oil cooler was authorized by corporate not to void the warranty

Thank you everyone for the quick responses and information! I really appreciate it!!

After looking at this thread: Nissan Motorsports Oil Cooler vs. Stillen Oil Cooler

Looks to me that I have the Nissan Motorsports Oil cooler, which would only make sense since the car really hasn't had an owner besides "Nissan".

Exactly my thoughts!! Nissan HAD to have tested these cars, even before sending them for testing for Motorweek Magazine. It tells you something if they installed an oil cooler on the 21st Nismo ever built BEFORE testing it in early 2010.

Thank you thank you! I typically put 5 qts in, so would it be bad to put in a full 6 qts?

I would have to agree as well. I took the car into Nissan to get the extended warranty transfered over to my name. They did a fullllll inspection of the entire car before doing so, zero hickups. They even brought up the oil cooler being there and said it was a smart addition

Can you take a pic from the front of your car? Bumper on is ok.
Then I can tell you if it's top down/up to see how much oil you should be filling
(Although it looks top up)

Be interesting to check to see if it has a differential cooler, if it was indeed a press car..

Its top up. The lines connect to the top.

The Nissan Motorsports one easily sticks out because of the size of the actual heat exchanger as well as the Oil Lines. The oil lines are very thick.

Then 5 qts.
And the oil cooler isn't bigger than any other 34 row.

Does it take A WHILE for your oil temps to rise? Because the Nismo one doesn't have a thermostatic plate

Yep, I understand that its a 34 row, I was saying compared to a 19 or 25. I literally had to remove my front just to get to the top of it.

For engine temps, it really doesn't take long to start to heat...just doesn't get very high? I actually had no idea it had an oil cooler until a week after I bought it and it was like 95 degrees out and after going on a cruise, I still had zero engine temp issues, weren't even getting high. Had stopped and hopped into a local members 40th which his engine temps were nearly 70 degrees higher.

I've begun looking into the termostatic plate since I live in MN. I ususally store the car by October, but there are days that it gets down below 50 degrees before then. How much of a concern will this be for me, and what are things that can result?

Thanks again for all this input. I hadn't looked into oil coolers all that much until last fall when my G37 went into limp mode on the track and I kind of freaked out. Very VERY happy about this information.

Well my friend, you have a problem... You just don't know it.
Your oil temps are WAYYYYYYYYY too low!!!

What are you at when you drive around? And does the needle leave 140/how long does it take to just pick up off it
