what was your baseline on that same dyno with very similar weather ?

they baselined it prior to tune and it was 309RWHP/250RWTQ

i never had it one the dyno prior to my tune.

Nice Numbers Fpenvy, I'm going with that same setup aswell besides the intake system I have k&n short rams though lol

nice! my only goal getting tuned was to hit 320rwhp. i was extremely surprised and pleased when i saw 324.

Dyno are only a tuning tool , one read low the other read high ,, so its kind of useless
.

True, but the Z1 dyno has seen many 370z's, so its also a good comparison tool. I don't remember what my baseline was honestly though, it was so long ago. However, since then, I believe Russell's car (owner of Z1) made came within 1 hp of mine but with slightly higher torque. I know before the headers I was 311 on their dyno.

Mike, go back and dyno with a few gallons of 100 octane and then come back and tell us your numbers :)

What is the Z1 intake manifold mod?

mike are yours SAE (inflated) numbers?

i've gone through countless build threads and dyno threads but your numbers just seem "too" high. i've seen multiple people with many different brands of headers who are a lot lower HP than what you have listed.

i'm not trying to sound like i'm calling you a liar. i'm just curious as to how with very similar mods plus headers you are 20HP or so higher than me.

his 342 is STD number which are higher than SAE.

I will let Mike speak about about this but I will still add my small opinion on this.
that number of 342whp STD is plausible and when he shared his number with us, I did a research with others known high number on the forum (similar mods).

its all depend what component you have and the tuner.
I know when he got his 342.. Z1 had access to the Uprev beta for the VVEL adjustability , they did said they played with this . but gain were very limited.

also remember his Z is 6MT instead of 7At like yours, should have a few whp different right there.

the trick is to not have a too big exhaust like double 70mm as example from what I gathered.
Mike was smaller if I remember correctly.

I have momentum headers and my car was tuned at thee Uprev in Austin Tx, the actual headquarters and my car only made 324whp. I'm not sure if they messed with VVEL... Maybe Mike's Z has other secret mods he isn't mentioning lol

i've looked and havent found many Z's over 330whp besides that fake 403whp one. (some 330WHP were on dyno with tweaks to make numbers bigger i believe) anyone can change variables and have higher numbers not saying this with mike's. just saying i know it can be done easily lol

my exhaust is 2.5" which is only 63.5mm

7AT does have around 15-20% more loss of power through the gear box from what i've read. i mean if you add those in i'd be much higher than him or anyone so i find it hard to believe it's that high of a difference given my mods.i'm guessing it's more like 10% difference.

soooo they used software only a few shops have access to. lucky bastards lol

i just want to see how headers/secret z1 intake mod/and beta software jumped him 18whp more than me. possible point me in the direction of future mods to beat those numbers lol

difference from 6MT to 7MT is less than 5%.
There was a guy here who were doing that research which I forgot his name. My guess was 3% more drivetrain loss on the 7AT Vs the 6MT.

as far as the VVEL tuning , they did said they couldn't do much with it. need more time learning to tune it properly I suppose.

Mike had this exhaust that was modified with glasspack muffler
60mm exhaust . Invidia Gemini
http://www.jscspeed.com/images/catal...thumb_full.jpg
Spoon did like 32Xwhp with a very similar setup but with 2x 70mm exhaust. Its where I think he lost power because of that.

then again Dyno are a tuning tool ,, unless you go for some pull on that same dyno where Mike's Z went, with the same seting and everything, we cant know for sure if you are or he is making the most power.

yea i know it's not a big percent hence why i said i didnt believe when i read somewhere saying it was 15%

based on the VVEL tuning not being really useful yet that still makes me wonder what they did to pull 342whp.

i doubt glasspacks help with HP pretty sure thats a sound mod lol

edub370 07-08-2013 04:50 PM

326whp - 268tq

test pipes
CNT cat back
Dyno tune
Injen intakes

We don't think the glasspacks help, but the 60mm tubing probably does. As for the intake mod, I don't really know what it is, that is Z1s secret. Their shop car is making the same power as mine also.

I do think another possible difference is that I didn't baby mine during break in and its been 90% hard track miles since day 1.

Other possible factors are maybe my quaife lsd has less drag than a stock one, but I have no idea on that one, and also maybe because my race wheels and tires at the time were a good bit lighter and smaller diameter than street wheels and tires could also help. I think when I actually had a set of street tires, the car dyno'd 6hp lower
