they did fix the major problem i had before because it was a horrible loud rod knock. i was told by my mechanic friends that continuing to drive the car would've been asking to have a hole shot out the block.

i'm going to see if i can get a compression test done under warranty.
if anything, i will see if there's any further oil burning after the next oil change.
