Thought I would share my experience with this issue.

2009 - 49k miles - out of warranty - Central NJ

Day 0: Clutch pedal not returning all the way up.
Day 1: Car won't go into gear. Notice clutch fluid reservoir is dry.
Day 3: Refill fluid and drive to dealer. Hopeful that the flush and GTR fluid from the TSB might save me money. Still was a rip off - $320 for parts + labor. Clutch barely makes it back home. Read this thread.
Day 4: Order OEM clutch (disc + cover), OEM master, Zspeed HD CSC. All from Zspeed.
Day 6: Parts arrive.
Day 8: Car towed to private repair shop. 17 miles away, I didn't want to chance driving it. After showing up 2 hours late, we get the car on the flat bed tow truck. Tow truck blows a tire about 1 mile from my house. It was a long day :-(
Day 10: Back on the road.

Parts ~1070 (incl'd shipping)
Labor ~900 (incl'd tax)

Dealer wanted almost $4,000 (!!!!) which, granted, included new OEM (dual mass) flywheel - but god damn they are a rip off.

So for the people that want to fix this issue even if the CSC has NOT failed. What is what we have to replace/buy in order to avoid this whole CSC issue? Just replace the CSC with the Zspeed CSC? that's it?

Is this the part?---> http://www.zspeedperformance.com/ZSp...SC-zsp2006.htm

Thanks in advance.

^Yep, replace with the HD CSC AND your oem master cylinder at the same time to prevent future problem.

Does the Master Cylinder needs to be Zspeed as well or just OEM?

Ok looking for some opinions. Recently my clutch has been making a grinding noise just before engaging fully in 1st and 2nd gear. I took it to a shop and they said sounds like throw-out bearing. I believe we have the CSC instead of a traditional throw out bearing. Has anyone seen this symptom of the CSC failing or could it be something else? Thanks in advance.

There isn't an aftermarket master cylinder availlable that I'm aware of. People are replacing the oem master with a new one while the tranny is out.

This

If you don't replace the CMC at the time of the clutch swap, you'll be back to do it later. The seals in the OEM one aren't the greatest so make sure not to use a power bleeder.

Wow! "...The seals in OEM CMC aren't the greatest either". What was Nissan thinking when they designed this car? The Z is starting to remind me of my first car in high school, a OPEL GT. It too had crap parts! I'm beginning to regret trading in my old Suburu WRX STI for this "all looks & no reliability car".

My master cylinder might be showing some signs. It's making a loud squeaky noise whenever I depress the pedal. That CMC is another weak point. I had it replaced twice. The original was replaced when it failed after installing the new clutch and CSC at 22k miles. The second one was replaced for the sake of safety when I had clutch issues.

Its shocking that some of these cars with a little over 1000 miles are having these problems.. its crazy. And to these folks replacing a bad CSC with another OEM CSC is just silly.. just my opinion.

so basically to avoid the problem:

1) Replace the OEM CSC with the Zspeed CSC.
2) Replace the existing CMC with a new OEM CMC.

Replace those two and it should be fine or does something else needs to be replaced?
