What engine temp are you normally around?

You should add @ 20* to what your guage is reading because the temp is taken before it enters the engine....so 240 is actually 260 or better. As JAR said,

As JAR said, change your oil more frequently if you are running at high temperatures and you may want to adjust the viscosity of your oil as well. I live AZ and I run 0-40 oil and my temps seldom exceed 220. Even running hard! Also get an oil cooler, cheep insurance!

Summer city driving about 185-190, winter 160-180. First track day hit 245.

Temps with a 34 row cooler so I'm glad I went 34 for the track days. I'll make a block of plate for this winter since 160 is a bit cold.

Run a high grade full synthetic and you won't have to worry about protection so much but the car will still go into limp mode at a certain temp regardless (it doesn't know what oil your using or at what temp it breaks down so has to be on the safe side).
